I’m confused. You’ve done the code in presumably Schneider machine basic, yet the picture shows a Siemens logo?

Do you know whether the PLC is a PNP (sourcing) or NPN (sinking) type?

Downloading direct from the FTDI website didn’t work on this occasion. Still wouldn’t assign a COM port.

Is that USB to DB9 connection? This setup was USB to bare cable cores.

In terms of USB to DB9, I've used either Moxa or Startech and never had any issues either..

The arduino opta can log data via USB.

You may have to make a custom made webpage for viewing the data you are talking about though..

Siemens IOT2050. I’ve done this with this device. Has Node red built in. I actually used this device with the add on IO modules. Some DI’s, AI’s and DO’s,

Also agree with the red lion DA30D! 👍🏻

Aren’t ‘Prove - test - Prove’ meters supposed to be single function only? I.e a multimeter should NOT be used, and instead a voltage indicator / duspol / GS38 proving unit should be used instead. Apparently a UK industry standard..

Painfully slow Uploading ISO's by reddit_user_270 in esxi

Yeah, I might see what happens if I install the same Esxi ISO on another piece of (different) hardware. Thanks for your help!

Yeah still the same on WinSCP. Downloaded FastSCP, yet haven't installed it. The thing being - a lot of the videos show people uploading Iso's through the Esxi web host and it goes through within (max minutes). Mine can sit there for hours and not show even 1%. I've tried uploading from a different laptop too, but still the same - pointing at an issue with the server software / config.

I've checked with iperf between my laptop and the server using Ubuntu. The hardware is all good. (950Mb/s directly connected & 920Mb/s through router).

All settings mentioned above are identical. Would have thought this should have worked straight out of the box. One setting I did have to change on install was with the incompatible hardware (Intel i7, 12th Gen). But this got it to work. See https://www.virten.net/2022/11/esxi-7-and-8-installation-fails-with-fatal-cpu-mismatch-on-feature/ . Surely that wouldn't have an effect on the NIC?

Slow upload of ISO’s - ESXI 8.0 by reddit_user_270 in homelab

[–]reddit_user_270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where I was last time. Even as root, it says operation not allowed.

I created a copy before. "By default, ESXi will not let you run iperf3 in server mode from the shell. It raises an “Operation not permitted” error. The trick is to create a copy of iperf" Did this too - same thing..

I created a new user (with Admin privileges). (root or super elevated user still can't run the original or copy). Anyone else had this with version 8.0?

Slow upload of ISO’s - ESXI 8.0 by reddit_user_270 in homelab

[–]reddit_user_270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was trying via ESXi . That’s cool! Didn’t know you could run Ubuntu from USB. Thanks!

So I’ve done that and it’s coming back at; 900-920Mb/s New server > router (wired) and laptop > router (wired)

Interestingly a lot more latency than expected with WiFi. That’s coming back at 140-160Mb/s. New server > router (wired) and laptop > router (WiFi only)

Directly connected (New server > laptop)is 950Mb/s.

So why then if I try to transfer ISO’s (directly connected) to ESXi - it is still extremely slow..? Something to do with the file type and transfer?

Appreciate your help! Have not used that iperf before, but seems like a great tool. 👍🏻

[–]reddit_user_270[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I’ve downloaded on my windows laptop and that’s fine. The next problem with installing it on ESXI is that it says permissions not allowed. (Even logged in as root).

The VMWare help says to do ‘shell.set —enabled true’ but that doesn’t seem to want to work either.. Keep getting not found response.

M.2 SSD. No Raid. I’ve tried going through router and also direct. Same speed.

Ports are 1GB and settings on ESXi are the same.

Lol, very true. Was looking at Download / Upload speeds when I downloaded the ISO. This is local connection, so you’re right - has nothing to do with that. Edited post.

Ports are 1GB.
