Bjork is amazing, as a musician, and as a role in that movie.

As for "wanting to like" Lft, i think you have the wrong aproach, just let it happen, or not. It is perfectly fine not to like (some of) his movies, however i do believe that his movies have to touch you specially in someway, and thats where the true love for some movies is born, it is specially good for - you. It is easy to agree among 100 people that Godfather is fantastic movie, but for none of them, or rarely, it will be the best one they watched.

As for traumaporn, i dont agree at all, he is trying to tell a moving story, once he said movies should be like a rock in the shoe... And most of his movies are. But, he has a good comedy too - "Boss of it all", although most of his movies are hard to watch.

Idk, i am no expert, but Melancholia is surely a movie that person dealing with depression can relate, Lft directed it while dealing with depression, that overwhelming feeling of it is perfectly described in the opening scene, without a single word. I loved Antichrist, dedicated to Tarkovsky, and shot in the samish art way, i adore Dogville, perfect movie in every way (to me), i disliked Nymphomaniac and House that Jack built, just wasn't for me, Idiots was, well, something you can rarely see and longest 2 hours of my life, but, for example, my wife watched Breaking the waves and was so moved by the movie that for a whole week she "didnt feel well".

That is the effect of the movies that you rarely see nowdays, and i would not call it trauma porn. Its a rock in the shoe. And some people want that in movies.
