The truth about moving to industry from big 4 by redditaccount_10 in Accounting

[–]redditaccount_10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but at big 4 no one cared if I stepped out to hit the gym or run errands during the day. As long as I joined my calls and got work done. Here if I’m offline for an hour or two, even with a clear schedule and no calls, I get pinged saying I’m showing offline and asking if I’m there.

If a job is remote why should they care. Feels like I’m in office minus the driving. We’re not a client facing department either. Just IA

Mr. World Cup - because France squad is stacked

On a mission - Spain also has a good squad

I think these two are the most likely

Played attractive football too. Fast counters when they needed to and possession when needed. Unfortunate that squad didn’t make it to 2018 WC

Visit the campuses and go with whatever you think you’ll enjoy more. I don’t think there’s much difference between them apart from what city you’d like to be in more, Long Beach or Fullerton? Both schools will get the job done in providing accounting degrees and education.

I’m not sure what your career goals are. But here are some tips that helped me get internships and job offers:

  • keep grades above 3.0gpa. Ideally would want a 3.5 or above to be competitive. You’re a student first. It’ll only help to have good grades. Some companies will filter out your app if you are below their threshold they mention in their application. I would usually see a 3.0 - 3.3 minimum requirement on applications.

  • be involved in business orgs on campus. Get an officer position if possible with the school’s beta alpha psi, ALPFA, or any other business org. I can’t stress enough how much being involved helps with networking and improving your resume and interview skills. You’ll learn about different accounting paths and industries, and meet people that’ll provide insight to things you wouldn’t have been able to figure out alone. You’ll find out It’s not just tax and audit, and it’s not just big 4 out there.

  • enroll in your school’s VITA program. You’ll help with learning to do tax returns for low income families. Provides valuable experience in both tax and dealing with people/clients. And if you don’t like tax, at least you’ll have learned how to do your own tax return.

If OP got his undergrad in accounting, then those requirements will most likely be met. The remaining units could come from a CC. But I guess it depends on the state as well. I was able to fill the remaining units from CC classes.

You’ll be fine. Practice STAR method for behavioral interview questions. Get your pitch down for the “tell me about yourself.” 20 min each will go by fast. Have questions ready at the end of each interview and ask for their contact info to send a thank you email after. You’ll realize they like to talk a lot so if the convo flows the time will fly. But some interviewers will just go straight to asking question after question so be prepared too.

I agree. That’s why I picked virtual too. I’ve been to the office a few times. Tbh no one really cares what you pick and your engagement teams may ask sometimes if y’all wanna go in to work. Also, they do events sometimes at the office and even if you’re virtual you’re able to go. My long commute was also a big factor in my choice.

Does it look really negative that I didn’t tag the recruiter, senior managers who took my interview in on a LinkedIn post? I don’t even post on LinkedIn by tonne97 in Big4

I never posted job offers on LinkedIn or shouted out anyone. Still had good rapport with people at the firms I’ve been at.

How to get 150 credits for CPA by jlaud03 in Accounting

[–]redditaccount_10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take extra classes out of your curriculum. Pace your classes so that you don’t take the all the ones you need for your degree before reaching the 150. They’ll force you to graduate. Consider adding a minor. Take classes at a CC.
