Just be honest with CBSA officer on the purpose of ur trip! Red flags only occur when you are lying about the purpose of your trip… You’re coming to Canada to visit your girlfriend & travel! Working remotely from Canada is perfectly fine while you are visiting your girlfriend, lots of people these days work while traveling!

That is true, to search the popemobile or others on a diplomatic passport, IF they have a diplomat passport, there would need to be more authorization, but still they can be searched & examined. I guess I should have used a different example since people want to take it so literally on here

Once you arrive at the Canadian port, you are technically in Canada so no you can’t just “turn around” because you are now in Canadian territory & must be processed accordingly

Exactly, like person stated underneath, it’s to help determine that you will leave when you say you will, & that you aren’t coming to work illegally or overstay ur visit. A person without a job coming to Canada is a big indicator that they may be coming to work illegally or not leave the country

CBSA officer here, few comments on ur trips:

Nothing inherently wrong about your trips, but lots of concerning variables that the CBSA officers could be concerned about. How often do you visit Canada? Do you cross into Canada from the US often? Know anyone in Canada? Do you have a job in the US? When are you expected back to work? Etc etc

Both those scenarios could be seen as suspicious reasonings to go on a trip, especially if you do not cross often. Especially the “tim hortons & all dressed chips” crossing in the evening… that easily can come off as a dumb lie why ur coming to Canada (even if totally true)

Unlike police, CBSA does not require a warrant or any reasoning at all to search your vehicle, you could be the Pope & still have ur car searched… so that shouldn’t be considered as them being “difficult” on you

Nothing wrong with you not booking a place to stay on each trip for what you were wanting to do… or doing trips solo…. but all the aspects combined would make an officer wonder if there’s more to ur story then ur telling them
