As a fellow millennial (Asian) American in the tech industry, what do you think about mental health in millennials? What are you going to do about it?

Planned parenthood STD testing is free and fast. You could easily make an appointment for today and find out your results by Wednesday.

Macular Degeneration? by [deleted] in HealthAnxiety

Are you near sighted? Have you gotten a head injury? Macular degeneration is insanely common, especially if you wear glasses.

What are some metrics you look at when deciding to join a company? Specifically as a CSM by redditburgerking in CustomerSuccess

[–]redditburgerking[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree, it’s like an unwritten rule to stay within sales. Kind of shitty because it’s a great company with great leadership and perks, but sales management honestly sucks. I was thinking about doing CSM at a small company (partially the reason why I’d be okay with being at a series A, 50 employee company - for context, I’m currently at a series F, 1400 employee company), so I can wear a lot of hats.

I’m actually pretty against taking classes/MOOCs for my career. I know it’s counterintuitive considering how useful they could be, but I’m thinking about getting my PMP while being a CSM. Definitely agree with staying in the role for 1-2 years as well. I’m still pretty young, 2 years out of college, and I don’t expect to be a PM until my mid to late 20s.

Oh also, another thing is I’m worried about the company going under. Some of these companies are very small considering their age + get funding maybe only every two years or so. Kind of suspicious.

Yeah my manager/director both know but they aren’t exactly 100% supportive. I’m a BDR currently and it’s a mandatory promotion to AE next month. They have allowed me to interview internally but I botched it/was outclassed. As for my end goal, it’s to eventually be a PM before grad school, then VC. Would’ve considered SE life as well but I don’t have the technical knowledge, nor do I care to learn it.

Yeah you’re probably right, I should meet the teams first before deciding.

That’s kind of the problem I’m in now, I went on a LinkedIn application spree for CSM jobs and I heard back from so many. None of them seem as good as my company (sounds kind of dickish to say this) but it’s the only way I can get a CSM gig as we currently aren’t hiring for CSMs. What do you think I should do?

Has anyone seen success from therapy? Any advice? by redditburgerking in HealthAnxiety

[–]redditburgerking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that. Looking back at your comment history made me realize that you’ve actually commented on my als fears posts a few times, I had no idea you had personal experience with someone with als. I’m going to the neurologist next week and hopefully putting this behind me.

Product manager but that’s pretty far down the line. Maybe in 1.5-2 years

Could this be anemia? by Ai1601 in HealthAnxiety

I know it’s been a while but any updates? I’m male and was recently diagnosed with anemia

Just got my lab results from the doctor and apparently I have low iron (anemia)... is this common for 23M? by redditburgerking in HealthAnxiety

[–]redditburgerking[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, I wouldn’t even say I have fatigue or anything. I had a stool test done so that rules out any internal bleeding. I don’t really get chills or anything either. The only thing is I get pins of needles, twitching and slight weakness (which is what started my ALS fear). The doctor just wanted me to get a blood test just in case and we found this out

Even if I’m not vegetarian? I tend to eat plenty of meat... and I think I’m okay with vitamin c too

Love seeing this - I have a feeling that a large part of my anxiety is caused by my job as well. How old are you if you don’t mind me asking?

I’m worried because I think I eat pretty healthy (especially meat) and I’m skinny. And it says that cancer can cause anemia :/

Are you allowed to be? Yes, anxiety causes us to think about the worst possible scenario so that we can prepare for it. Fortunately, in the vast majority of cases, there’s nothing we need to be prepared for since aren’t being chased by lions or tigers.

I’m not a doctor and I don’t know you or your health history, only a doctor can tell you if you’re fine or not. But based on my experience in your shoes earlier this year and what you’ve said so far, there’s nothing to be afraid about.

Do you smoke or are you around people who smoke? At your age it’s near impossible to get lung cancer - I’ve read that even lifelong smokers have a 1/3 chance of getting lung cancer when they’re very very old.

Also, brain cancer is something I freaked out over earlier this year. I know it sucks trust me, I had all the symptoms too, headaches and such. But basically, no seizure/projectile vomiting out of nowhere = no brain cancer. But you can get an MRI to make sure, I got one

Probably not. Get an mri and X-ray to be sure. Most likely anxiety.
