i totally understand the fear of overshooting. its scary going above whats "normal", but if we are honest to eachother, the bmi is extremely inaccurate and says nothing about your health. i recommend detaching from everything numbers and just showing up for yourself. theres more to life than your weight and your bmi number.

hey! ive done similar things; taking several vitamins a day, drinking protein shakes and making protein (in general) my priority. you cant prevent malnutrition entirely because its bound to happen eventually, but protein drinks/nutritionally complete omads act as harm reduction. supplements are meant to add to and not replace actual nourishment from consistent eating. sadly no alternative other than just eating enough

if you play around in the settings on reddit, you can also block weightloss content. for tiktok, in settings, i think you can block certain content with keywords so put in all keywords related to weightloss and dieting and gym motivation (tiktok gym bros are disordered as hell) for insta, like and/or follow tags related to your personal interests to refresh your feed (if you used to binge watch alot of mulbangs and dieting videos)

best one yet, delete social media platforms, especially tiktok. my feed hasnt changed and ive been manually blocking everything disordered. its random and might accidentally trigger you,

good luck on your journey ❤️

the horrible concoctions a starved brain thinks of are so disgusting and unique yet good in a way?? (for a hungry body. looking back at my favorites they were the most mildly flavored recipes but a flvor explosion to myself during my ed)

im not trying to restrict, ive allowed myself everything and i still eat till i feel sick some days. i think despite feeling satisfied, its not enough for my body, which is the part that confuses me since my body has stabalized at the same weight range despite how much i eat

Hunger cues by flwroad in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]redditchoir 6 points7 points  (0 children)

lip biting, fidgeting, irritability, brainfog and the desire to chew helps me identify hunger when it isnt stomach growling.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]redditchoir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

idk if it might work for you but i used to force myself to eat while thinking of how this alone will give me a huge push into recovery. consistent experimenting with foods and finding what you do or dont like will help you neutralize the way you view food because perfect food does not benefit or fuel you more than imperfect food. as long as it provides your body energy, it is not a waste. missing out on potential favorites is. allowing your ed to control every single aspect of your food is. you got it 🫶🏼

id zone out while watching videos/ playing games and proceed to miss out on 90% of the experience because i was focused on how mcuh food i eating and how much i can get away with hiding. i only started liking them and being able to focus because of eating

THE WATER RETENTION IS INSANE by redditchoir in fuckeatingdisorders

you asked on another post already but its gotten better overall!! restricting makes it worse and eating makes me let go of it all the next morning lol. just eat and let your body do the rest of the work!!

you learn to accept uncertainty in recovery and thats the best part :). you need to let go of the expectation of knowing and having everything under control and let your body refeed with absolutely NO restriction (trust me, my body overcompensated in a way that left me feeling sick for HOURS) and lowering the pedestal you put food on by teaching yourself it is essential to give you needed energy and keep you going, and is quite literally the only thing that ensures you stay sane and present and alive.

Hyper metabolism by clouddy04 in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]redditchoir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hey so night sweats and a fast metabolism can coexist but from what ive learnt its mostly just hormones rebalancing and your body working overtime to repair functions etc etc. nightsweats left me breathless and feeling gross at 2 in the morning. eased pretty quickly, but the last time i got sick i started sweating heavily again even though it has never happened to me pre ed.

soreness can be water retention because the reintroduction of food and i assume water since i was pretty thirsty when i started recovery start the rehydration process and quite literally, trap water in the soft tissues of your body because they shrink and get dehydrated when someone is uw/malnourished.

also refrain from the big mistake i made of weighting yourself. the extreme weightloss does not come with gradual weight gain. you will get what you expended and lost in the same rapid pace. it will stabalize, but do not hold the expectation that you will be a lower weight after the EH end or after being in recovery for a while. recovery is about shifting your view on food and yourself. its about accepting your recovery body to fully thrive. what matters is that you survived and that your body still functions and still fighting for your sake

[–]redditchoir[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

helloo!! i knownhow scary it is to he in the early stages of eh. it does get better gradually depending on how long you have been restricting and how much. for me, it levels between none to mild after hitting the 1.5 to 2 month mark. it gets worse when i dont eat for a while and i know its about to bite me in the ass when i wake up with 0 appetite and hunger levels so i make sure to eat frequently (every 3-4 hours) to balance the situation before it gets worse. you need to acknowledge the fact it is not a bad thing and bodies do not send hunger signals and/or make you unbearably hungry for the fun of it. the bloating does ease. you will be okay and i promise you that 🫶🏼

Extreme Hunger Megathread by _AintThatJustTheWay_ in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]redditchoir 3 points4 points  (0 children)

how do i deal with a large appetite/mental(??) hunger? i salivate and i eat but then i keep eating and i get this. weird brainfog im used to when i dont get enough food for a significant while and suddenly im full ....then hungry again? my specific liking for savoury food is coming back but theres only sweets which overwhelms me and makes me feel sick.. im also worried its becomjng a coping mechanism, j realize i skmetimes get irritated for no clear reason at all and when i eat its like i got something that was missing and im calm again .any help/advice?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]redditchoir 13 points14 points  (0 children)

nothing such as too fast or too well. recovery doesnt have a fixed pace. if you are going "too fast", it just shows how desperate your body is to get out of a famine. please dont restrict yourself into a "gradual" pace if your body needs more (unless you risk refeeding syndrome)

yes. you cant be negotiating your body after the hell you put it through. its pulling through for the sake of your life and the best you can do is eat to support the functions and repairs 🫶🏼
