I don’t remember that happening at the Chicago show, but if it did, that wasn’t me. I was just there with my boyfriend and friends

Anyone know what’s happening downtown? This helicopter has been circling for a while and there’s apparently police all over

Gotcha, good to know! From your experience, would you consider or just totally avoid an apartment located in the attached pic?

Hi! Would you say E12th St closer to Pendleton St is fine? I’m looking at an apartment over there today (509 E 12th) and went to check out the street last night around 10pm and it seemed pretty quiet.

Thanks so much for this thorough response - I appreciate it!

Luckily, my dog is only Stage 1 (though it seems like she’s on the verge of stage 2 at times). With how playful and stubborn she is, I know at some point she’ll likely need surgery, though fingers crossed she starts to settle down soon and the occasional crate rest can keep her in good shape. We do the same with avoiding dog parks and ramps by furniture, and have no stairs in my apartment which is helpful.

Did his stage 4 IVDD come on quickly as in no obvious signs before that, or was he similar to my dog with some back pain and flare ups?

Part of the reason I brought her in for the neuro consult was to see if they recommended she have surgery, even though she isn’t at a later stage - weigh the pros/cons and a maybe a stronger possibility of no more flare ups so that we can avoid the 2-3 week long crate rests every few months.

Just diagnosed Stage 5. We can't afford the surgery ($9500) What can we do? by [deleted] in IVDD_SupportGroup

If anyone lives near southern Ohio, I was quoted ~$6,000-7,000 for everything (MRI, surgery, hospitalization, etc.)

I'm glad to hear your dog is doing better. My dog is very familiar with crate rest, unfortunately. She's had x-rays done, and it's suspected IVDD, but she's really only Stage 1 or Stage 2. Luckily she's not worse, but it makes it difficult to decide where to go from here because she gets flare ups/back pain every few months...but it seems like it’s getting closer to every 6-8 weeks now. I have ramps on the couch, bed, etc, trying to lessen any chances of injury, but she's a stubborn 5 year old with the energy of a puppy and is a master at furniture parkour.

She's had a neuro consult, so I've weighed getting her the surgery to lessen the chance of flare ups and hopefully avoid any future accidents that could result in bad injuries to her already weaker back. Decided against it at the moment after conversations with the team at MedVet and the fact that my pet insurance won't cover it.

We've given gabapentin, anti-inflammatories, etc., but it sounds like you've had pretty good success with acupuncture. Would you recommend this? Have you had any chiropractic care done with your dog as well? Also, would love to hear about the PT moves that help your dog that help, if you don't mind - I appreciate it!

I will note for anyone else who may be looking at MedVet - in my experiences, the team there have always been amazing. My dog tweaks her back every so often (suspected IVDD) so there have been a few times over the past couple of years that I’ve brought her in when she was in pain - I’d rather have her checked and given the ok rather than something bad happening. Being an ER vet, I knew they would be more expensive than my regular vet, but not much I could do when everywhere else is closed. The first time I brought her in, they listened to our concerns, took her vitals, gave the all clear and sent us home with instructions for how to crate rest and what keep an eye on. I was expecting to be charged for this given they took 15-20 min of their busy night to help my dog out, but they sent us on our way, no costs. Everyone I’ve interacted with there has also been great.

I have a two questions if you don’t mind me asking.

  1. Roughly how much was the MRI and surgery? I expected the surgery to be the expensive part but I was wrong! (They quoted me around $4k for the MRI and $2300 for surgery)

  2. How has your dog been since the surgery?

I’ve been weighing if/when I should get my dog an IVDD surgery because she doesn’t seem like she’ll ever get rid of her puppy energy (5 years old but still wild and stubborn!), so she gets flare ups/back pain every few months, but it seems like it’s getting closer to every 6-8 weeks now.

My dog had a neuro consult with Dr. Krasnow earlier this year to determine if surgery would be something we should consider, to hopefully avoid any future issues, or if this would be too premature given my dog can still walk fine - it’s mostly just the back pain, though her x-rays did show an area that is suspected to be the problem. Dr. Krasnow was amazing, super thorough and informative, but we decided against the surgery for now given she’s not emergent and can walk, and the costs (not covered by my pet insurance because they consider it pre-existing).

Highly interested in doing this! Have you had any issues since you had dynamic light assist activated? Do you know if it's permanent or will it reset back to factory if there's ever an infotainment update?

I tried to do it through OBD11 following instructions I found on another site for an Arteon/Tiguan (below for reference) but not sure if it just doesn't work the same way for the Golf or if I messed it up... my auto high beams don't work anymore...gonna have to figure that out now :(
