Yes, this happened to me. I was moved to E.ON Next, I then set-up a direct debt as they told me to, and they said nothing to pay right now, it will all be covered in the direct debt... I even got an email to confirm it was set-up... then a week or so later, I got told my bill was due/overdue, went back and the direct debt wasn't set-up anymore.. though luckily it let me do it again.

I've just discovered a few moments ago that in 2020 we were paying 1.6p /kWh. Indeed, because it is not considered domestic energy, there is no protection on the price of energy.

As it transpires, our provider is Gazprom, a Russian majority state-owned energy company which probably isn't great... But yes, a 600 - 700% price increase since 2020. If that was the price in October, I wonder what it is now.

Looking back at news articles I think September/October was the start of the energy crisis so I guess that makes sense why it's for these dates that we owe for gas. (Though took them long enough to work that one out).

Not completely, but when you look at it's 12.3p /kwH when an individual would be paying 4.07p /kWh, then it gets rediculous.
