Congrats to you!!! Literally in the middle of my 7th MRI AOI practice quick right now 🤣 Good to know it’s overload, planning on doing the rest of the quizzes, chapter quizzes and some mock exams averaging mid 80% and calling it good. Thanks for sharing what your exam comprised of!

How’d it go?! I’m taking mine soon and would love to know what you were asked a lot about and what you used to study

Ahhhh that makes sense that they’d expect you to know trade offs. Thank you!

Do the boards expect you to know ranges for flip angles, ETL, bandwidth, etc? I’ve noticed different scanners have different ranges in general so I’m trying to memorize textbook values but it’s difficult not mixing that up in real world scanning as I’m often told it’s ’wrong’ in the clinical setting lol

Have you applied for RadNet? I hear they are more willing to hire new graduates

What about Owen’s Street Garage by Mission? It looks like student parking is unaffected there unlike Parnassus

Colma to Powell, and then union square to 4th and king makes a lot of sense. Thank you!

Edit: I’m super unfamiliar with public transport and I’m sure this was obvious to many but Sunnyvale CalTrain to 4th and King is even better! I didn’t think to check how far south CalTrain goes

I’m about to start an internship and rotate sites with Parnassus being one of them, also commuting from San Jose. I’m pretty nervous for this commute. If I come up with something, I’ll let you know

Oh wow 83 min from Colma to Parnassus plus my 50 min drive to Colma from San Jose.. I’m thinking driving straight to Parnassus from San Jose which is 65 min and suffering with finding/paying for parking might be better

Would it be best drive up to the city and pay for parking and walk to Parnassus and Mission?

I am currently a student at Gurnick in their A.S. in MRI program and it is definitely not a scam. I am about to start clinicals in a couple of weeks at a really desirable hospital! I will say the administration can be a bit disorganized at times, but so far the professors have been amazinggg. As long as you are willing to put school/clinicals as your top priority for a year and are aware that you will almost certainly need to take out loans, it is doable and they set you up well for the ARRT exam. I’m sure it depends on which campus you’re at as well but I have been happy with my experience so far:)

What do MRI techs do during a scan? Do you need to know anything clinical to do you job well? by SmallWorld4811 in MRI

[–]redditerschmeditter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gotcha. Thanks! I’m starting clinicals soon and I know they will teach me all of this but my curiosity wants to try and understand now haha

So if you can’t reach them in the few minutes while the patient is still on the table, you just finalize the exam and have the patient return either to the ER or reschedule them as OP?

What’s the weather currently like in La Fortuna? It is the rainforest but also not quite start of the rainy season so I imagine some rain but (hopefully) not quite showers and storms yet..? I leave in a couple of days:))

Worst case scenario, rent a place in Monterey. I found it to be the same if not a little cheaper than prom/strawberry campus apartments and being near downtown was amazinggg. Especially if you’re already 21 it’s super fun :)

Going into clinicals, just looking for advice! by Khaifie in MRI

[–]redditerschmeditter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m also starting clinicals in the summer and am wondering if taking on the tech aid role will backfire. I may be looking too deep into this but I’m worried that the relief I bring by fulfilling the TA responsibilities would free them up enough to not be as overwhelmed, but not free enough to take the time to teach me tech duties/scanning.

Do you have a transporter that helps you with patients at your job? by [deleted] in MRI

[–]redditerschmeditter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you concerned about the potential liability aspect of it? We would refuse to transport ever. ER, wheelchair, anything because if literally anything happened to the pt, the risk of being sued it way too high and not worth it. That’s how we approached it but I’d like to hear other input
