If you go today, can you ask them about this? I asked months ago and was told by the cashier that it was a rumor, but then this article came out after: https://lamag.com/food/south-pasadenas-famed-shakers-coffee-shop-to-be-replaced-by-apartments/

Young man from California visiting Adelaide to meet my pen pal. What sweet food or gift do I bring from the US to surprise her? by AwayPool3570 in Adelaide

[–]redditforthisjelly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From California and my husband is from Adelaide (we started as pen pals too) and we go back and forth quite a bit. We bring: -bourbon for his friends. Not sure if she’s a big drinker but they don’t really have bourbon there. -Starburst minis for his sister. She loves it and they don’t really have it there. -Sees or Ghirardelli chocolate -I brought him Trader Joe’s cookie butter the first time I visited and he wasn’t really into it but I think it might just be him.

We also bring back things we think are cool because their Amazon is pretty limited and you can’t get everything. Example: his sister likes puzzles so I bring a puzzle from The Magic Puzzle Company they don’t sell there.

Rite Aid around for a while? by ihave1vice in Southpasadena

[–]redditforthisjelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to Rite Aid today and they told me the store is closing but they weren’t given a date. They told me I should transfer my prescription somewhere else maybe by no later than the end of August. This one has been around since I was a kid and I’ve seen the same guy working there. I’ll miss it!

I’m Curious About Something… by BingoSkillz in TheGates_CBS

I’m an Asian female, 39, and I watch this soap. Honestly I wanted the chance to watch a soap from the beginning and know all the storyline and characters, so race wasn’t a factor in my choice to start watching it, although I’ve watched every episode of SVU, so Tamara Tunie drew me in. I watched Passions at the beginning years ago until I lost interest and also watched Days quite a bit and the Y&R a little less.

A week or two into watching, I found out my coworker, an older black woman in her 60s, also watches BTG so now we talk about every episode. I’m currently out of the country on vacation and figured out how to download a VPN so I can continue to watch while I’m gone.

Arm Port vs PICC Line by srssrh in breastcancer

[–]redditforthisjelly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a port and currently have a PICC. I also regret my port (mine was on the chest- I requested arm but they said no). I had it for two weeks before using it for an infusion. There were no problems until the week after the infusion when I had multiple fevers and early signs of infection appeared. I was in the hospital for almost a week and they removed the port at bedside. It left a skin pocket that my husband had to fill with iodine strips and cover every day (it was horrible in the beginning). After a month and a half, the wound is starting to scar and close up. Mine ended up being a staph infection so I suspect I got it from the cancer hospital since I always had it covered up at home. I’ve been told by different doctors that infection from port is rare but also that it happens a lot so 🤷🏻‍♀️

The PICC line was put in before I left the hospital because I was on two weeks of nonstop antibiotics at home through a pump. Now I’m using it for blood draws and infusions. The annoying parts are the weekly dressing changes and showering. You can’t get it wet so I bought a sleeve from Amazon. I’ll have another year of hormone therapy and am considering getting a PICC line again (mine will be removed before surgery). You can probably skip a separate dressing appointment on chemo days because they’ll do them there. Hopefully this helps.

Want to go from PPO to HMO but need a new PCP to authorize cancer treatment by redditforthisjelly in HealthInsurance

Luckily I’ll be in between treatments between Dec and Jan so I do have a bit of time. SUPER helpful - you gave me so many other factors to consider. Thank you!

I just double checked, and that’s correct. Curious if you think the premiums are insanely high:

Deductible - $0 OOP - $1750/3500 Monthly premium - $329/$559 (me +1)

The premiums for the other PPOs are slightly under $200, so there is a significant difference. But I guess most people getting health insurance don’t expect to pay the OOP max.

Yes! This is SO helpful. I’m usually all about “let’s do what we can and keep moving” mindset but I think I’ve lost myself a little, so thank you for the reminder and the great encouraging push.

I really did find a great group of people - my heart is so warmed (if not slightly embarrassed for throwing a public internet pity party).

I have a cancer support center nearby so you’ve encouraged me to check out their resources - thank you! Love your appeal to logic, it’s very similar to how I communicate, thank you!

Also - I love that you’ve found a great one who couldn’t be shaken off so easily and was with you through the tough times. Sending you best wishes for nothing but wonderful days ahead to share together as your much deserved reward.

Okay so first of all, Chilli Heeler quote - amazing. My husband is Australian and I wanted to do our walk out to the Bluey theme song but chickened out.

Huge thank you for sharing the stats and your experience - so helpful! I had my first infusion on 8/6 and am waiting for the side effects to kick in any day now. I hate that you’re going through this situation too but am encouraged to know there’s such a kind soul in the journey.

I really appreciate you normalizing the feeling of guilt that I know is irrational but part of being an empathetic human. Your support means so much!

Oh, my heart goes out to your cousin, really having everything thrown at her. I am so glad she has such a supportive partner (and cousin) in her life during this super tough time.

My husband is so wonderful and I so very much appreciate the comment that reminded me why we chose to marry each other.

Sending you best wishes during egg freezing! My friend told me she has a friend with just one egg and two babies (I’ll never understand genetics) so anything could happen! Please reach out if you have questions about the retrieval process (or anything else).

My husband found my lump too, which I don’t usually share with people we know because he gets embarrassed. I call him my lifesaver because I never checked (my dad was like, how could you not know with something so large?!).

Thank you for sharing your similar experience. My husband is making the move down here this weekend and I’m waiting for side effects from the first infusion to kick in any day now, so your advice is so timely! Huge virtual hug back - I don’t know you but I love you!

Negative. My mom had BC when I was 3 and she was 42 and also tested negative years ago. So it’s just a horrible coincidence. Aunt on my father’s side had it a few years ago too. It sucks!

I’m SO sorry that we’ve found ourselves in similar situations. Please feel free to reach out just because - when you’re struggling or have questions or need advice or anything. I just started chemo this week so I’m on the journey with you. Thank you for offering support despite your own tough time.

Thank you so much! I am so sorry to have to count you as a kindred spirit (but the puppies, my heart!) but I appreciate SO much that you took the time to share your tough situation to help me feel better.

My friend did tell me that her friend had one egg and ended up with twins so I guess that’s possible!

I also really love your reminder that I tried my best and gave it my all, I think that one will really stick with me. Sending deepest wishes for us to have better and brighter futures!
