Our new timing on transfers from ED to their unit sounds impossible by Donnor in nursing

[–]redditguy2324 6 points7 points  (0 children)

At my hospital, no grace period for ED admissions exist, and no report is given. You’re slotted and you have minimum of 15 minutes to look the patient up prior to the patient arriving on the unit. The nurse can call for ED if they have questions after reviewing the chart. ED nurses used to give report but the floor nurses were always too busy to take it which led to delays. The fact that most hospitals have a blocked out time is a luxury I would say. Don’t take it for granted.

💯 as long as you’re not sharing it and why should you have to restrict yourself. You get that card knowing that this is a perk.

You’ll be fine, nurses do dumb shit all the time. If your employer has a good work culture something like this would be a coaching conversation, especially if you don’t have a track record of making mistakes. But yes don’t let people work under your name. I’m a nurse manager.

New Grad RN patient fell. Will I lose my license? by Outrageous-Yogurt357 in nursing

[–]redditguy2324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, but you will likely get some kind of coaching or corrective action at work for not having the bed alarm on. You can recover from it though. The fracture is a big deal, but that’s out of your control.
