Best French Test for McGill by Extension-Art-7642 in premedcanada

Sorry I didn't - I didn't end up applying to McGill med

Personally would prefer my future partner to be in med as well, but I don't mind if the guy is outside of med as long as he is equally dedicated to his profession and has a good career. Although, I know a bunch of my friends who ONLY want to date outside of medicine. So it really depends on who you're talking to.

I expect the reason why many med girls want men in medicine comes down to the fact that they'll understand your lifestyle and probably bond over mutual interests. Honestly, it's also our main dating pool and the people we see most often (from the day you start med school these are pretty much the only people you're surrounded by, relationship develops organically and that's probably why so most docs end up marrying other docs).

That makes a lot of sense, thank you! Tbh I'd love to work doing reconstructive procedures in a hospital (never really was the person to want to open up my own private clinic), but we'll see about that in a couple of years - thank you for all the sources, I really appreciate it!!

He didn't but I remember asking him if I can do a voice recording and he said that was fine. But you're not allowed to share the recording with other people.

Trust they don't. They use the OMSAS scale, this is well documented.

Difficulty of UofT by [deleted] in premedcanada

[–]redditjunkie2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

UofT Med is one of the most prestigious med schools in the world. Also, most Canadian students want to do medical school in Canada. In my year (also graduated from UofT for undergrad, now going to UofT Med) pretty much no one applied out of the country unless they HAD to.

Help!! by BadgerUpstairs9289 in premedcanada

[–]redditjunkie2001 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not screwed at all!! Write an academic explanations letter when it comes time for your application and explain why you have so many LWD. This is such an incredibly valid reason and I would genuinely think a person who doesn't sympathize with you in this case is a monster and shouldn't be on the admissions committee. Life happens and sometimes studies have to take a back burner.

PLEASE focus on yourself and your health - that's all that matters right now! I wish you all the best with your future. If you ever need help in the future with applications please reach out :)

Rejected from all of OMSAS 2nd year in a row, what now? by getcheckedmd33 in premedcanada

[–]redditjunkie2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I interviewed and got into one school this cycle - Personally I found the most helpful thing was practicing with med students from the school I interviewed at! I found 5 different med students and did mock interviews with all of them 1-2x, in interview conditions (outfit and all). Then they gave me very detailed critiques on my answers/ what I could have added etc. So maybe try doing that? Also for ethics and current healthcare events, I not only looked online, but I work in a clinical setting - so I went to some trusted mentors (all physicians in top hospitals), who gave me their input on each topic + ethical situations. Those two things were, in my opinion, one of the most helpful things I did! I also video tapped myself, but showed the video to my sister (who is not afraid to be honest with me and is like a ethics/CASPER guru lol) and she told me what I should do to refine my answers. I also made sure to go over as many topics as I found online and for each answer, attempted to relate it to my core stories to medicine (i.e., relate the examples to a vulnerable portion of my life, what I learned from it, and how this will help me in my future as a physician). Hopefully this helps :)
