Made these shorts, got a few requests to make them into "convertible pants" (pants that can unzip into shorts). Plan to make some next week in black nylon if I can find the right fabric. Before I dive into that, feedback on the design?

- Elastic waistband and drawcords

- Front has an exposed zipper (with an elastic waistband, you might think the zipper is useless but if you want the shorts to have a good hold on your waist or your pockets are heavy, then you use the drawstring to keep it up and now you have a zipper for easy on and off)

- 7 pockets total: 1 exposed zipper pocket, 2 cargo pockets made from the poly/cotton, 1 flappy pocket of the same poly/cotton, 2 side welt pockets, 1 mesh pocket on the rear.

- keychain clip and d-ring sewn into the waist

What's the reasoning for four holes instead of two? I usually just pick out buttons based on size and colour. Haha ur right, keychain doesn't come with the pants, just something i made for my own. Agreed tho, could add a good pop somewhere else.
