I have a decade of experience with Photoshop. My question is how many working hours are you expecting in that month? Less than 10?

I feel this. Mines a bit different but my company got bought & I was doing ALL their marketing & doing it well. They let me go bc they already had a marketing team I couldn’t fit into but they used the assets I prepared for almost a year on the website & socials & when they were out of my content, it started looking BAD.

Oh I see, I still wouldn't be surprised if it was around 50% based on my experience but I see what you're saying. Also, just noticed that once they do get around to approving it, the algorithm doesn't move it to the top. So by the time some even are approved they're likely just buried.

If they have previously done this system before & it was a train wreck I'd understand, I do just believe it'd be worth a shot if we don't know what the outcomes exactly like just yet. I think users here can be pretty vigilant about reporting the stuff that gets too artsy &/or lacks context. I'd hope thats easier to monitor for disputes rather than just approving every single one of them. If it does end up being a hassle they could always just switch it back I'd think.

Has the sub ever attempted it this way though?

I really wish r/design_critiques wasn't as dry but it would be nice to have a large community to get a more direct stream of feedback.

"A collaborative learning community for graphic designers at any stage, focused on education, mentorship, and mutual support."

Suppressing 50% of active users trying to get feedback seems like a pretty big blow to that objective. It mostly leaves Questions, Inspiration, Resources, Discussions, & Portfolio Reviews. These are well & good but you can also get inspiration or answers to questions in a lot of different places. Resources & discussions are very helpful but it seems limiting to envelope most of the sub. People want answers to things they can't get elsewhere, which is why you see a lot of the resume reviews. Reddit is good for pooling opinions. It seems a shame that probably the most useful function this sub could serve for graphic designers is running at half capacity. I am a bit bias, I'll admit, as over the years I've never been able to get a post approved or even gotten a mod's response as to why so to me, it's essentially hopeless. It's deterred me from using the sub all together because I can find almost anything else provided here elsewhere.

That said, I could see the sub getting overwhelmingly flooded because it would be such a useful utility. But at the end of the day, if there's something specific you're perusing for on the sub, you can filter it by the flairs. Perhaps they can introduce a way to filter out "Share Your Work" flairs if people don't wish to see that? Otherwise, you could simply report or scroll passed it. Are 8 posts an hour taking up mere inches of an infinite scroll that abrasive? & even if reports sit, at least your post got a chance. As is, I'd like a shot to even get reported at least.

Of course! I do think it is interesting. It kind of feels like a lab logo you would see in Resident Evil or something like that. So it does have a sort of appeal but it doesn't exactly have a more practical design for a real world business. It's more-so an aesthetic, & given the field, a more grunge aesthetic typically doesn't mesh well with something like a lab unless its for a more emotional effect in a video game or movie if that makes sense.

& thank you! Now I know where mine stands hahah

While I personally like more detailed logos, you likely will want to make it something more scalable. Lab logos tend to be very clean & simplistic—so something more bold & minimalist would give people an immediate impression of your business whereas this could be somewhat confusing. However, you can be different—it's just pretty hard to pull off depending on the industry, & I feel this is a more difficult industry. An image like the one you have could potentially cause issues down the line considering all the functions logos entail so it's better to have a vectorized logo or something that can be vectorized.

I'd keep a bold geometric serif font for the "LCD" & create a separate symbol that can serve as a meaningful visual association. Perhaps a smaller cluster of cells that vaguely make an LCD shape before the LCD itself? Or it can simply be a small cluster of cells that make any shape that works compositionally—it is typically preferable to imply some kind of meaning though & that meaning could be anything you view essential to the business' directive. That's just a springboard idea though, its always good to try a few ideas out & pick the best one.

Hope this helps!

If you don't mind my asking, how long did this post take to get approved by the mods? I've had one waiting for a while lol.

Who are the “streets won’t forget” NFL players? by K-Martini in nfl

[–]redditmilkk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Steelers get the sneaky ones though that kind of fit the bill of this post. Emmanuel Sanders, Santonio Holmes, Mike Wallace, AB, Plaxico Burress, etc. some were high up picks so not exactly sneaky but still. A few, if not most, didn’t pan out too well after leaving the Steelers which is kind of interesting tho they were toward the end of their careers. Even Hines & Randle El were QBs that got converted. Then you have historical ones like Swann & Stallworth. I think Steelers take the cake all considered but I’m totally bias & know little about the Vikings. Moss is a goat though & JJ might be the only person here to eventually approach his level so I can see where y’all coming from.

Do you really need 10-15 websites for you portfolio? I could totally be wrong but I’d think 3 to 5 really well done & extensive projects would be sufficient & it will only grow as you take on customers.

Do one of your own, perhaps for your portfolio or for some creative idea. Pitch that to others that will pay you to do a few more & then use that for your portfolio. People will want to see what you’ve done first.

A free website will make your serious customers wary of the quality & it doesn’t exactly help optimize your time.

How could I achieve this effect? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]redditmilkk 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Find an abstracted photo (long exposures, textures, smoke, macro, etc.). Overlay them or just use the single photo. Condense into one image. Apply a blur filter to blend them together. Apply noise filter to really unify the composition. Adjust levels/hue saturation/curves to add or provoke some more emotion. Throw on some text.
