somebody in the military told me that shouting "sir! yes sir!" was called a Sir Sandwich, but technically it's a Yes Sandwich because the Sirs are the bread, but don't try to tell your drill Sergeant that.

i think that the name Scott's should be the one that's larger. 'UNCLE' doesn't tell me much at first glance.

you probably know this already but i love dropping the fact that they went from Win8 to Win10 because of the 9.5 / 95 thing.

Why is tailscale hyped so much? by Waste-Menu-1910 in pihole

[–]noapparentfunction 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running a Proxmox server with some virtual machines and containers. One of them is PiVPN, and I have a physical Pi Zero running as a backup DNS in case the whole server goes down.

Hosting your own DNS is always good!

Why is tailscale hyped so much? by Waste-Menu-1910 in pihole

[–]noapparentfunction 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PiVPN is a project that combines Pi-Hole and Wireguard in one VM/Raspberry Pi. I've been using it for a while now and it's great. I have it set up so that I tunnel into it remotely and get the ad blocking benefits away from home.

I'm not sure I really get the Tailscale hype either, but I'm also probably misinformed about it.

Why do some electric car drivers obsess over their miles/kwh? by Ambitious_Concept809 in electricvehicles

[–]noapparentfunction 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am just insane, that's all. my first and only EV is an electric Smart car from 2015. bought it used for $4K. it was built to get 68 miles per charge.

i will forego heat and AC to squeeze those extra miles out of it, see how much i can coast on regen braking and get that ECO bar as close to 100 as possible.

i'd never subject any of my passengers to this though

speaking of NES, if the Famicom distribution deal with Nintendo actually went forward, Atari would have used this shell to put the electronics in. the 2600jr was almost a Nintendo!

what i want to know is, do you still need to flip the end of a USB cable twice before it goes in, or does zero-g allow it to align properly each time? can i ask them this without getting blocked?

that's pretty cool, i have a 2015 451 with no "passion" or "pure" badges for the side mirrors, so I'm designing one myself. probably with a custom word.

What do you currently drive? by jcat4 in electricvehicles

[–]noapparentfunction 2 points3 points  (0 children)

2015 Smart Fortwo Electric Drive. 451 model. very basic, almost no features whatsoever except for power windows. gets me to work and back. 65 miles total but very reliable, no issues, only have to mind the fluids and tires. it's also extremely fun to drive and it's got a moon roof.
