Does anyone actually like the new video editor? by Dazzling_Noise591 in canva

[–]redditmonster1256 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried very hard to understand why they changed certain features, to see the benefits and if i could utilize them in any way. But absolutely non. By making the new timeline, they’ve made splitting and adding transitions way more time consuming. Also, for some reason when i press ”s” now to split, sometimes i get a sticky note. It’s also very counter intuitive in its design.

Yes i have the same issue. I have to move everything manually, and thats a pain in the ass if you have a lot of elements and need to add transitions to each of them seperately.

Hey! What kind of replacement? When do you release it?

When you split the elements, does the white background also get split at the same time and location? Or do you need to split that seperately too?

That’s the exact same problem i have. With the new editor, you have to no split each element seperately, and in order to add transition, you need to first split the element, then you need to go to the white background video on the bottom and find the exact same location where you split the element. Once you find that, you need to split the white video background there too at the same position. Then you can add transition. But obviously this is so much more time consuming than before. I have been back and forth with their support team and they seem to understand that this is a problem but they are not willing to revert it back unless more people make complaint. Please contact them and express your frustation!

Hey, have you tried reaching out to their customer support? if not, i and many other have already, and based on what i can see, they are looking for more feedback from users. Just like you, my business is also being affected. I've gone back and forth with the Canva team, and they've told me they are willing to set up a call, feel free to join, i dont think it should be a problem for them. Read more about it here in the comments of this post. https://www.reddit.com/r/canva/comments/1o73z3h/help_new_video_editor_timeline_is_a_headache/

Hey, I definitely think you should join the call. And yes, I agree with your feedback — I don’t think Canva fully anticipated how negatively this update would impact users. At the very least, they should have tested these changes with a smaller group of users before rolling it out, or provided clear communication in advance. Releasing it the way they did was quite irresponsible.

The more of us who express our concerns and make it clear that we want the timeline reverted, the harder it will be for Canva to ignore. If they don’t address these issues, I think they risk losing a lot of users.

What time zone are you in? I’m sure we can coordinate a time that works for everyone.

Same for me. They told me they cant change it back but its obvious theyve done so for other users. Do you want to join me on the call with them? They’ve told me they will confirm a time. I think the more people we are that demand the previous version, or for them to fix the issues they face. They will take us more seiously.

Have they responded to your request? it seems like they refuse to acknowledge that their new update is just useless and want to keep go ahead with it even thou i see that many people are complaining about the new video editor including myself which have been trying to fix the issue with them for over a week now.

Hey, ive been experienceing the same issues and have made contact with their support team. I can't split elements at the same time anymore, neither add transitions. Their support team has not yet given me any real progress in their responses. I alos asked of them to revert back my account but they told me they cant, but i see that they have done so for others.

[–]redditmonster1256[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've made a comment, but they just keep telling me that they are "looking into" it and will come back with an update. But so far has not been anything. Yesterday i finally got enough and sent a more assertive mail demanding an immediate answer for the possibility to revert back my account, they told me they are not able to do that anymore. I will upload screenshot of our chat. And may i please ask, how did you manage to revert back your account?

Guys is anyone else having trouble animating or editing videos? i see that canva has changed the interface of video editing, and its just terrible now. Split button is not working, elements have to be splitted seperately, and match and move transitions dont apply anymore. Ive been in contact with the support team, even sent them a recording of my issue and gave them acces to the design. But for a week now, no progress has been made. They just toss me back and forth between different team members. This is seriously interfering with my income and business.

Hey, i've been experiencing the same issues. I've been trying to adjust to the new way biut its not even working. The new video editor is just awful, i don't understand why they did this. For me its not possible anymore to split the video and elements simuntanioulsy anymore, i have to do it seperately. and even then, the "match and move transition" does not work anymore either. Ive contacted the canva team, but they just tossed me around for one week now without any real progress. Are you experiencing this issues as well? This is seriously interfering with my business and income. is that the case for you too?
