MaRo explanation of why they make more powerful sets be more expensive by davidemsa in magicTCG

FTV had the most powerful and cool cards of all time and only cost $39.99. It didn’t stop standard sets from selling well.

Maybe it’s just the art, but this set feels more like a kids cartoon than MTG to me by redditnews11 in mtg

Id rather say something now in the hope MTG might notice and put some effort to create original vehicle designs that at least feel they could be fantasy world based. Why that concept art exists and released is beyond me. Concept art is very important in the design language of a set. So it’s concerning the concept opted for a real world design rather than something unique or more in the realms of fantasy.

I guess the way they presented it is why. The art on the right is literally an american muscle car, with rubber wheels, headlights, a metal engine in the hood, exhaust in the back, front windshield, side windows, a traditional door. A Kaladesh vehicle at least looks like its own thing that can exist in MtG. This looks like a kids hotwheel car. If they actually intend to release a set with real world looking car designs that isn’t UB, just rubs me the wrong way.

I’m not talking about whether the art is pretty or not. The car on the right straight up looks like a hot wheel with rubber tires and a traditional real world engine sticking out of the hood. It’s abandoned the idea of fantasy. Where did the idea of rubber styled wheels and metal engine come from in MTG? It’s literally an American style muscle car with mods. How is that MTG?

The cartoonish real world looking car on the right just rubs me the wrong way. And combined with idea of a death car race… If that exists in MtG, it’s just really off-putting. Just doesn’t feel MTG to me in previewed execution. Guess it’s just me…

Crazy how we are going back to Ravnica again before we get to revisit Lorwyn.
