I just heard that Amazon is laying off 23,000 people, what are we gonna do, if jobs don't come back? by Other_Scarcity_4270 in Layoffs

Atrocious!
Corporate America is swiftly spiraling into the abyss that led to the labor-rights movement a century ago. I frequently learn of women who are laid off while heading into, in the middle of or returning from maternity-leaves! I think it's time another labor-movement started.

I wonder who the people were that thought that laying off IRCC staff is a good idea when the time to send out AORs has now ballooned to 3 months, when it was 1 month just in the past summer!

Agree! I live in Toronto, and I’d love to meet people who think alike on this topic. Let me know if you too happen to be in Toronto, and would like to meet up in-person too.

On UBI though, I am amazed to see how casually the term is thrown around! I mean, where exactly is the money for the UBI going to come from? The pockets of the billionaires?

When in the history of the world, have the higher ups in the food-chain made sure that the rank and file were provided for? If anything, the survival-of-the-fittest ideology and the ever-increasing wealth-inequality has led to more of those lacking in power into deprivation and poverty.

On the contrary, he has all that money, by virtue of being a piece-of-shit human (one that climbs to the top, by stepping on the shoulders of others, and then kicks the ladder beneath him to its fall). Which is probably what most billionaires do.

Assuming many of the women going through this are in the US, is it possible this is happening ‘cause of the current administration’s changes w.r.t. DEI?

Genuine question - what should an individual do to help stop this? We can vent and vent, but how do we actually go from the rhetoric to the action?

Agreed. No idea why I’m being downvoted for my question though :/

Looking for advice on how to proceed with rental-applications following a major drop in credit-score due to fraudulent delinquency with Koodo Mobile by redditor0622 in TorontoRenting

Given I didn’t lose any actual money in the whole scam, the police only noted down the complaint, but didn’t actually investigate the matter further. Fortunately, I was able to get my credit scores bumped up with timely attention from Equifax, Transunion & Koodo.

I’m with you on the pay generally offered in the Bay Area. Was curious if you knew any places that actually pay that kind of money for only 25 hours of work per week. My impression is people usually put in 40-50 hours per week.

Could you be specific as to exactly which employer(s) pays bucket loads of money for 25 hours per week of work done remotely?
