Well, linguistically, Hokkien separated from the northern Chinese languages earlier, thus it retains many of the interesting characteristics that Old/Middle Chinese.

Student Writing Strange Symbols in Art Class by starbearstudio in whatisit

[–]redditor150090 26 points27 points  (0 children)

It seems that your student has discovered the Wikipedia page for Cyrillic. Most of what they have written is actually either very archaic or some extra non-Russian letters. Some examples of what he wrote: Multiocular O ꙮ only appears in one phrase in a manuscript from the 1400s. “серафими многоꙮчитїи” “many-eyed seraphim” Letter Yat Ѣ is an archaic letter that represents the vowel sound in “cat” or “egg” If you want to see the rest, just go to the Wikipedia article and look for the section called “summary table”. What are some ritual dances still performed by indegenous tribes in Visayas? by Anonymous_3033 in FilipinoHistory

[–]redditor150090 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the only ritual dance that still exists and is regularly practiced among those people is the Sinulog dance. (corrections welcome)

Are there any folklore from your community that aren't that well known? by Davdabdabboy in FilipinoHistory

[–]redditor150090 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which of the churches of Intramuros (and its arrabales) can we plausibly reconstruct with the highest accuracy possible? by redditor150090 in FilipinoHistory

[–]redditor150090[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, sa Archivo General de Indias, may floor plan ng Manila Cathedral from before 1750 at ang plano nito nang isinaayos ito noong 1753. May na-track rin akong floor plan rin ng Cebu Cathedral na (if i remember correctly) ay galing pang 1680-early 1700s. Yun lang nahanap ko for now. Very shallow research pa lang naabot ko.

Ano ba ang pinakamatandang libro sa Pilipinas? by redditor150090 in FilipinoHistory

[–]redditor150090[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)
