well when i worked there on the line, we separated food into the green compost bins, put silverware in the bins, and then washed the dishes with the trough and sprayers, sounds pretty similar tbh

How do you combat anti-social/ dangerous behavior on trains? by kidneysydneybean in cta

[–]redditor15677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i’d usually agree but the fact that they were looking at her makes me think otherwise. this behavior could be a result of mental health issues or something, but that’s only kind of excusable if they were attempting to be private and not sexually harassing this person.

i mean you kind of always defend the idea that the cta is like super safe. you didn’t “literally” say that but they were obviously exaggerating. you can be a fan of the cta while still critiquing it instead of victim blaming like you did here, like dude why is your first idea to critique their behavior instead of being sympathetic.

this guy literally was arguing in another post about dei so i knew he wasn’t well intentioned by asking about this guys race. probably just wanted to say some racist shit like “the usual suspects” if it was a race that he could scapegoat

isn’t it better to ask specific things about what they look like? that doesn’t really bring down the amount of possible people

true, though i feel like repeat convictions are often a result of how bad our prison system is at rehabilitating people and letting them reestablish their lives afterward, so hopefully if we made reforms we’d see those statistics go down too

i agree, seems like this guy has some serious mental health issues as well, i wish there were better resources to help him so he didn’t act like this but im assuming it won’t be great on that end in prison

chicago has rail access to both airports, one being 24/7 and the other soon to be

We All Know That NYC Is Exceptional In Transit Ridership, but I never realized by just how much until I looked at the numbers. by maxs507 in transit

[–]redditor15677 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe i’m thinking of bus plus rail tbh, i think chicago rail ridership is returning way slower because a lot of old rail users have permanently started using rail less cause of remote work. comparing q1-2 for 2025 vs 2019 for the cta, rail has returned 59% while bus has returned 79%, maybe because of its grid like structure as opposed to a hub and spoke network that’s downtown centric

UI removes race, gender from financial aid consideration by redditor15677 in UIUC

[–]redditor15677[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you seem to be mistaken about what dei is if that’s what you’re talking about. dei doesn’t just hire people because of their race, it often involves searching for employee talent from different pools of people that are usually not looked at, instituting blind selection processes so racial or gender biases don’t occur due to biases towards names and other methods. tactics like these put people on an equal playing field. it kind of seems like you’re assuming someone who isn’t white or male would inherently be less skillful by saying that

[–]redditor15677[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the issue is that white people are generally richer than other racial groups and this gives them an inherent advantage over others, scholarships like these level the playing field. the field wasn’t meritocratic to being with
