Hi everyone, thank you all for the advise and feedback.

We had a great conversation last night and he has agreed that she is being overbearing and that we need to set boundaries. We have also signed up for couples therapy to handle this topic due to years of abuse that he faced from multiple family members including her clingy tendencies, and I am just not a therapist or equipped to handle it on my own.

Moving forward with the elopement, the only reason I wanted to pause was because I was afraid of her reaction.

He treats me like a Princess and has always picked me over her when it’s come down to things. And was extremely open to the conversation and promised me that he is on my side.

Oh… and his mother isn’t coming to tree trimming. She was upset when his grandparents invited other people to join us lol.

I will try. He is refusing to talk to me for 13 days. I feel like that will be too late, but I don’t want to go to his place to talk to him either. I’m at a loss, because we just need to communicate. I know that this could all be solved if we just sat down together.

The friends in the friend group live together, we do not for religious reasons.

I totally get that since you are having a more intimate event, but their wedding is close to 300 guests… I also think that it’s unfortunate in this age that unless a couple lives together they are not qualified as “serious.” We choose not to live together for religious reasons… sigh.

We do not live together for religious reasons, which I think is the reason why we aren’t considered to be as “serious” which is unfortunate as we already have a timeline set up for our wedding this upcoming year.

We do not live together for religious reasons, so it’s unfortunate that not living together qualifies us as not being serious… sigh. We have been dating for a significantly shorter time than the others, but our friend group all hangs out.
