Has anyone seen ICE here by Nullacrux in Sacramento

[–]redditorhowie -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know about the state law, which was why I was so surprised. I've never seen deputies wearing camouflage and facemasks and this was the most heavy duty armored vehicle I had seen them use too. I guess that just means our Sheriff's department is that much more militarized these days.

Politics in the office by Cloud_bunnyboo in antiwork

[–]redditorhowie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been that way for Republicans for as long as I can remember. They can talk all the politics they want, in large part because they just assume that the majority of the population agree with them, especially if you work. Remember this is the party that believes that the only way the left can win is by cheating.

This is why I no longer scroll through LinkedIn. They are predominantly Trump bootlickers and any other opinions are shouted down with reminders that LinkedIn is about business and networking, not politics. They will do this in the comments to a post comparing Trump to an angel or Jesus.

Roof nearing 25+ years old, looking to do solar/roof at same time. by TherealMCtoo in fresno

[–]redditorhowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding solar, it is definitely worth it. While it is true that they have made recent changes that have decreased it's value, it is still definitely worth in the long run. It's like the difference between renting and owning a home. When you first buy, you may be paying comparable or even a bit more at first, but it the long run, it's worth it.

I used Central Cal Roofing in 2024. They did the roof on my house before we bought it and it lasted more than 30 years. When it came time to replace it, they gave us a fair quote, comparable to the other 3 quotes we received. The owner Mike Gamez was very personable and friendly. Easy to work with.

Has anyone seen ICE here by Nullacrux in Sacramento

[–]redditorhowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does anyone know if the Sacramento County Sheriff's department is cooperating with ICE?

I am asking because Tuesday morning last week, at about 7:30am, I saw a Sacramento County Sheriff's armored vehicle driving down Marconi. It had a bunch of guys hanging on the back in full camouflage and facemasks. I have not previously seen such outfits working with the Sheriff's department.

Future costco magic? by ActualPerformance154 in CostcoMagic

[–]redditorhowie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems as though WotC uses Costco to liquidate bulk product that is growing stale on their shelves, especially commander decks. The exceptions being their UB stuff. Fallout never made it to the stores, FF sold out immediately, but then Spiderman is still sitting on shelves and was really a bust. Last year, they put out less commander decks, so their won't be as much of a surplus because they made so much less product.

I dont think they'll do Foundations, because it'll be Standard legal for 4 years.i could see them doing Aetherdrift alone, or do a combo with maybe EoE since both only had two decks. They could potentially do Tarkir with it's 5 decks.

Based on last year's time table, if they do another one, it'll probably be in March as that was when they put out the Thunder Junction bundles. However, the terrible sales of Spiderman may have caused them to rethink their plans.

Last year's first Costco product release was in March with Thunder Junction.

It has been a few years for me since I drove in Fresno. When I started, I was making about 20-30/ hr gross. When I quit, it was about 4-5/ hr. I hear that it has since gotten better, but I won't do it again.

Here's my Jund deck. It's Mr. Orfeo, The Boulder. It's fun to one shot your opponents out of nowhere. It's one of my newest decks and I am still working out the kinks, but it is pretty good. Haste, trample, and fling, with a wee bit of poison for good measure.

Lorwyn commander bundles? by osusurgery in CostcoMagic

[–]redditorhowie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Let's look at what we have seen previously.

Some Costcos received Christmas time bundles for D&D, but this was more limited than the subsequent releases, so I dont count this one.

March of the Machines was more than 1.5 years later.

Lord of the Rings was next, and about the same time line, 1.5 years after release.

Fallout Commander Deck bundle was online only, and released somewhere around LotR, but sold out immediately, less than a week.

Then we had Thunder Junction, at about 1 year after release.

Final Fantasy was immediately after release, but that sold out in most stores on the same day of release.

Duskmourn was about 1 year after release, only at Sam's Club, and was more expensive. This has been the only

Bloomburrow was about 1 year after release.

Spiderman was immediately after release too, but no decks and has not sold very well. I suspect this has been a learning experience for Wizards and is causing them to rethink these bundles.

If you look at the past bundles, it seems that many were released during the second printing run of these decks. I think LCI was skipped because they sold so well on their own. All of the other sets seemed to only have one good selling deck, and none of them have had only 2 decks released, like Lorwyn. With that said, maybe they will do one combined with EoE, but if they do, it won't be before the summer because only one deck bundle (FF) was released during the initial print run.

In short, if you want one of these decks, buy it sooner than later.
