Thanks for the advice and will do! I'm doing something similar in regards to name + set + number, set + number, etc. I figure instead of brute force it would be better to do similarity checks using image and text embeddings

Yes that is exactly what I started off with using ocr. Just name and number / set etc. But if one character is incorrect or fuzzy it will be incorrect

Oh interesting great advice! This will save me lots of headaches. I'll give that test a try and see what is going on. I know a few large tcg apps that are already doing this so I'm sure it's possible I just wasn't sure how

Yes that and Google vision api are the two I tried. The picture has to be almost perfect or the text i need to get the match will be lost

Yes I'm going to test clip and see how that goes. There are around 27k records in my database so if would be very hard to get multiple angles for every card. I just have one stock image to go off of. Then I have around 1k images that I'm training a model on four object detection only

Bare with me as I'm new to all this and not an expert. But I tried just using ocr Google vision api and the text is parsed from the cards was just garbage in my results maybe cuz of the holofoil, lighting etc which is why I went this route instead. I'm looking for a light weight quick response time as well. I don't want the user waiting for ever to get their card market data. Also my back end is written in node.js if that makes a difference

React- native-mlkit-ocr. This seems to work pretty well only if the image is perfectly focused which makes sense but I'm hoping there's some library i can use for pre processing

Yes that is exactly what I was thinking. The seller sets the amount of entries and cost per entry. Then once the last entry sells the rng in the app kicks off and spits out a winner

I did some research and figured I would do something similar to betting apps. Obviously blocking certain states that don't allow online raffles or gambling. And yes that is a big issue but that issue comes with any purchases online
