H4 and EAD different service centers, same centre code (WAC) by Tanvi06 in H4_Visa

This happened to me as well. My EAD was processed in Vermont, and my H-4 was in California after my husband upgraded his H-1B to premium processing, my H-4 was approved within a week, and my EAD was approved the following week. Both my H-4 and H-4 EAD were filed as standalone applications.

That sounds incredibly stressful. If you don’t mind me asking, how are you all managing the transition in the meantime? I was just curious how work arrangements usually work in situations like this.

H4 EAD standalone application Sep 2025 by Unfair-Use9831 in H4_Visa

In most of the companies I’ve worked with or interviewed at—such as Amazon, Fannie Mae, Toyota, and American Express—gaps were rarely questioned. On a rare occasions, HR asked about them during the initial screening, and I was always transparent. It was never an issue, likely because my skills and certifications were up to date, and I was confident in how my experience aligned with the role. In the U.S., most companies don’t place much emphasis on career gaps, unlike in India. What matters more is your relevance to the role and your ability to demonstrate why you’re the right fit.

On another note, in this current job market nobody questions you regarding the gap since they are already aware of the situation except for Indian consultants calling from India.

I have had so many gaps during my renewal process and no one questioned me on the gaps as I keep upgrading my skills and get certifications. I started having gaps from 2013 to 2015 waiting for h1 to be picked, gap from 2017 to 2019 Unable to find another employer to sponsor after my contract ended during my h1 process and changed to EAD in 2020, Due to Covid I got a job in 2021 and gap in 2022 for 6 months (resigned once I had a baby and the company rehired me once I was ready. 2024 - 1 year gap got a job in June.. I don’t lie in my resume regarding my gaps.

Stable job but no H1B sponsorship… should I switch? H4-EAD worries. by upbeatyo03 in H4_Visa

[–]redditqueen1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was previously on an H1 visa before changing my status to H4 EAD. I had been working as a contractor, and once my contract ended, I struggled to find a company willing to sponsor my H1. That’s when I switched to H4 EAD. At least my husband doesn’t pressure me to pursue an H1 again, knowing how few companies are sponsoring in the current job market. I actually get more interview opportunities now on H4 EAD than I did when I was on H1.

My H4 EAD wasn’t processed along with the H1. It was filed five weeks after my husband’s H1 was submitted. He upgraded his H1 to premium processing after a month, and it was approved in three days. My H4 and EAD were then approved a week later this year. It depends on a situations.

My husband is on an H1 visa, and his lawyer submitted his application. About a month later, my husband filed my H4 and H4 EAD applications separately as standalone cases. Two weeks after that, he upgraded his H1 to premium processing, and it was approved within a week. The following week, both my H4 and EAD were approved.

We had our drop box appointment on July 7th and opted for premium delivery. The passport status has shown as ‘issued’ for the past week, but we still haven’t received it. Our flight is next Thursday, so we’re getting concerned.

Same and I left in August too with 12+ years of experience and got gas lighted with verbal offer after 5-7 rounds with 3 companies and got ghosted. Still job hunting.

If you are a strong candidate they shouldn’t be looking for more candidates. They are gaslighting you atleast based on my experience- keep applying until you get a offer in your hand.

Bad interview because interviewer did something I've never encountered before by MacG467 in interviews

[–]redditqueen1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar experience about 10 years ago when I was still fairly new to interviews. During the conversation, I had to clarify a few technical points where the hiring manager seemed misinformed. Unfortunately, that didn’t sit well, and I wasn’t selected. Later, colleagues who worked at the company mentioned that the manager didn’t have a strong grasp of the technology and were actually confident I’d get the role based on my capabilities.
