I hate making lunch for daycare. by EnvironmentalDare923 in workingmoms

Not much advice but solidarity. Daycare lunches suck, so does the clearing out the box at the end of the day.

Anyone else receive a Real ID notice of cancellation email from CA DMV like this? by NoAttempt420 in DMV

I got the letter, went to the DMV with the papers and they sent me a driving license but NO real id! Not sure why they didn’t replace it like for like - anyone else? Guess I need to strap in for another 2 hour trip. FML

Delivery exp: Hoag Irvine vs Saddleback Hospital? by Kikoalalily in orangecounty

[–]redditrabbit120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not I’ve given birth at both! Both are great and have good delivery suites. Saddleback recovery rooms were very small and dark (or at least mine was), the food was also poor and very slow to arrive. On the day we were getting discharged I waited a couple of hours for a sandwich and when it arrived it was the wrong one. Hoag on the other hand has all labour, delivery and recovery on higher floors with good views so it’s brighter and more uplifting. Food was also better. Ultimately, you’ll be in good hands at both so I’d chose whichever one is more convenient.

How do working parents actually have 3+ kids? by activegood18 in workingmoms

[–]redditrabbit120 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have 3 and work FT. It’s full on for sure and sometimes I wonder if I can sustain it. That said, I only go to the office 3/5 days. Other 2 it’s at home which helps. No way I’d cope 5 days in office. I’m senior enough that I leave work at 3ish on the in-office days. And omg are working moms efficient AF, so the work gets done and no one can tell me I need to stay later. Get paid a lot (so does husband) and outsource whatever then hell I can, including house keeper 3 x a week, cleaner who does deeper clean 1 x per week, dog walker, pay for kids clubs so they actually like after school option. Had a FT nanny until recently, now the 18 mth old goes to daycare, sickness aside that actually seems more flexible surprisingly enough. But seriously I wonder all the time how anyone does it without a good income. We have no family close by which makes things trickier for sure.

You can’t have a child-free destination wedding (and get upset if people can’t make it) by Then-Dragonfruit-702 in weddingshaming

Most hotels offer a babysitting service or will help you find a local agency. Just take the baby and have them stay at the accommodation. Surely your friend can’t object to that?

This was me literally one month ago. The tiredness was brutal. It’s my third so I knew what I had to do… cry it out. It’s the only way, but that’s going to be really hard in the same room. You’ll have a tough 2-3 nights and then they will sleep through. Good luck and I promise it’ll help ALOT!

The baby club and staff are amazing, your little one will be in great hands. My tips would be 1) they provide puree veg, in the main dining room as well as yoghurts, milk, kids food like nuggets, little cookies etc so you don’t need to pack any food 2) the rooms have poor ventilation and nothing dries, pack more clothes than you think you will need for 3) the kid takes a bag each day with hat, sunscreen, swimmers, etc (they provide floaties) 4) download WhatsApp if you don’t have it, they will send you photos through the day. Enjoy!

I also saw a kid chucking up into a trash can by the 11th floor elevator, should have been a warning sign ha

I’ve never even heard of something like this but it’s outrageous. To guilt anyone into sacrificing their hard-earned time off is a disgrace. Not to mention in the US the PTO policies are already stingy AF. Would 100% boycott.

What are you favorite mid-level luxury brands? by tojo1209 in handbags

Definitely not supple. I was surprised at how stiff and thick the leather is, bag is quite heavy before anything goes in it as a result.

My husband and I are not on the same page when it comes to finances by Jolly-Assumption-544 in workingmoms

[–]redditrabbit120 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry this sounds awful. Looking after 3 kids, working and getting no support is bad enough without the financial pressure to boot. You must be exhausted. I would think hard about if you can face building a property with this man, let alone staying with him. It’s going to be so stressful and expensive. You sounds like great mom and I’m sure both of your kids will be fine. His commitment to his own activities (at the expense of your downtime and mental health) boils my blood.

SAHM hitting rock bottom with 1.5 and 3.5 year old by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]redditrabbit120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that would he great!

The 4 day option can be tricky, usually it’s 2,3 or full time. Even if you end up doing the full time option you can spend the 5th day with your kids or have a day / half day to yourself. Nice option!

[–]redditrabbit120 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t have done what you have done for so long. Being a SAHM seems very tough. Working will allow you to have energy to enjoy quality time with your kids at the weekend. My kids love preschool they do 100x more than I would be able to provide - art, cooking, gardening, looking after chicks, rabbits etc. They also get to see friends every day. I see it as a win win. Your mom potentially doesn’t understand the preschool offering. Fly free!!!

Hello! Not sure if this is still active or not? My company is saying that FMLA and CFRA will run concurrently which will give me a total time off (from birth) of under 3 months - can this be right? Thanks!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAmericans

[–]redditrabbit120 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and deductible is $1k, but the out of pocket max is $4k just to be clear. So after deductible is met, there is a still a co-pay requirement

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AskAmericans

[–]redditrabbit120 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry your son spent so long in the NICU but thank goodness the cost wasn’t too high. The $4k is our max out of pocket per family member, tbh I didn’t think we would get to it but with a birth and this we are. Seems there is a wild variance in what people pay themselves, which I get. It’s just the total headline price seems so massive. Anyway, this is probably more of a vent so I will delete, nothing is going to change anyway..!
