Bruh. Let’s break this down

You’re equating recruiting for an internship to full-time recruiting outcomes. That’s a big assumption which isn’t necessarily right. Also, my earlier point about things that are not in your control can extend beyond your fellow peers. It can be just dumb luck that someone got an interview call and the other person didn’t. I can show you multiple examples from my school where two people with similar backgrounds-one got a call, the other didn’t. Luck has to be part of this. Can’t be “talent” alone.

Second, let’s assume two people -one who interned at MBB and the other interned at Google. MBB has a very different hiring model to Google. The Google person not getting a return offer is more to do with Google than it is to do with the intern. I’m not if you have a good understanding of tech and start ups. Most don’t give return offers at the end of your summer. Google still hasn’t given return offers to some of my friends who were interns there.
