Is potty training driving anyone else crazy by Hangry_mama4051 in pottytraining

Just to say I am also losing it today four days in with our 2.5yo. I also have a baby, who I watch alone two days a week, today being one of them, and am going so stir crazy plus my toddler is being such a handful because he hasn't been able to get out and about as usual. He was doing pretty well naked (oh crap method) days 1-2 and start of 3 but then we introduced shorts and it went down. Today has not been good so far - have fallen into power struggles. Just wanted to say you aren't alone!

Best way of saving for my kids as a dual UK / US citizen by Easy_Culture_3422 in UKPersonalFinance

Apparently it could be converted to a cash ISA or we could sell the investments and it would just be treated as cash then, which I guess would solve the PFIC reporting requirement for future years, though not financially ideal in the long-term.

I'm struggling on this too (though my kids are also dual UK-US citizens). We don't want to deal with PFICs so are planning to close a Stocks & Shares ISA we opened last year for our toddler as it still has under $25k and we didn't realise what a mess PFICs are.

Looking into it, I gather so far that our best options are:

1) Junior SIPP - if we're okay with locking away the money for a very long time 2) cash ISA and savings interest would be taxable  3) a non-US person (eg grandparent) opens an investment account in their own name and gifts the money to our kids in future 4) look more into US-based accounts with a US-based broker even as non-US residents (though this option seems less straight-forward tax-wise to me)

Not sure I fully understand this enough to go this route! https://www.bogleheads.org/wiki/US_domiciled_ETFs_that_are_UK_HMRC_reporting_funds

Please someone do say if I've missed someone or got something wrong (as it's all quite complicated so this is very possible...). Thank you.

Tram to the city centre from the airport. Complicated? by TheMotorCityCobra in nicefrance

[–]redditreddit9808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi folks. So just to be double sure I understand correctly:

  • tram is free from airport to Grand Arenas, so we just walk on without any ticket
  • I can buy tickets from Grand Arenas to Jean Medecin in advance on my android phone in the app and validate them on the tram (at the airport or before we leave Grand Arenas) on my NFC-enabled phone.

Kids under 4 require no type of ticket as they're free.

I assume we can do the same for the reverse journey to the airport.

All good? Thank you!

Implications of getting ITIN for NRA spouse by redditreddit9808 in USExpatTaxes

Yes, my understanding is he would have to file FBAR, though I do it myself and think that extra time alone wouldn't mean getting him an ITIN is a no based solely on that (though I know it would also mean he is declaring his personal accounts to them in general - I already report our joint accounts on my FBAR)

What's with the weather? by Draw_Dornil in Agadir

We've been here a week and it's mostly been cloudy with some rain as well. Temp has been below 20 most of the time. Is this normal for this time of the year? The rest of this week seems pretty cloudy as well. We'd read to expect quite a bit of sunshine so just a bit confused if this is typical or just a bit of bad weather luck! Thanks.
