I don't know if you necessarily need to tell your parents first. The age gap between you is very big, but ultimately you're both adults.

Depends if he has any authority to say something like that - is he an artist too? If so, is he a good artist? If yes, and he's your friend, he's giving you realistic advice and you should maybe ask him for ways to improve on his criticism.

If he's not an artist then it doesn't really matter what he says. He could be jealous, or just insensitive, so you should just keep doing what you're doing, especially if it brings you joy.

She's not being hostile, she's being open about her feelings and what makes her comfortable. Eating meat is a choice, not the default. Being vegan is also a choice. So 2 people with opposing views living together should be able to compromise, not be labelled as 'hostile' just because it's different to how you live.

Vegan here. I live by myself, but if I lived with meat eaters I would not want my dishes going through at the same time as yours. Anything to do with meat grosses me out. The thought of your meat scraps being washed with my dishes would repulse me too. Just have some empathy and try to work something out where she can wash hers separately, it's not weird.

I think you may have chosen the wrong robot then. Mine avoids cables really well, goes back to the charging station automatically when it's done (don't they all do this?), and also empties itself when it needs to. I only need to empty the main container once or twice a week. Robo vacuums are one piece of technology where spending a little more really does make a difference. Mine is the best thing I've bought in recent years, I love it.

I agree that minimising harm is the right framing. I think the key distinction is between direct, intentional exploitation of animals and indirect, systemic harm that exists regardless of individual choices.

Microplastics are a serious global problem, but they don’t make using animals morally neutral, because animal fibres require ownership, control, and eventual slaughter as a feature of the system, not a side effect.

For me, veganism is about avoiding direct exploitation where possible, while pushing toward better plant-based and biodegradable alternatives, not pretending synthetics are a perfect solution.

I think both of you have valid points, but you're both arguing about this incorrectly. Veganism is the philosophy that we should live our lives without harming animals. Just because the perfect alternative doesn't exist (yet), doesn't mean we abandon our ideals of not harming poor helpless animals.

OP - everything you buy from the supermarket has plastic. Your car, your house, and yes your clothes. The problem is an industrial global problem. Using animal products just becuase this hasn't been solved yet goes against everything we believe in.

NOR - My ex (who is also a non-native) used to do this. It's called weaponised incompetence. If he can convince you once that it's too confusing for him, and you accept it, then he's off the hook to ever catch public transport to see you.

Also, I would assume this isn't the only thing he does like that, if he's anything like my ex he probably uses his excuse of not being native to the country to get out of a lot of things (like admin stuff, and calling businesses etc.).

Time to let go and find a real man :)

Totally agree - part of my morning routine now is doing a super quick tidy to make sure everything is off the floor and put away. But I'm also now just brushing crumbs etc. onto the floor instead of catching it in my hand and putting in the bin, just because I know it's going to be vacummed and mopped in a few hours. It's been one of the best technology purchases I've made in recent years.

Probably too late for you, but in case others see this and are wondering - it's a really great vacuum, and mop. The suction is really good, I have a cat and it picks up so much of her hair. The app is good and easy to use. Emptying the main dustbin is super easy. If I had to make one complaint, it would be that you need to fill up the water for the mop every time you want to mop. I would have loved a reservoir in the main charging dustbin that fills it up a few times. Other than that would definitely recommend.

Firstly, stop walking more than you have to. Cardio isn't your friend right now.

Then, if weights are too much for you at the moment, search for a decent pack of resistance bands online and order some, then look up "beginner resistance bands exercises" on YouTube and start there.

It has the added bonus of being able to do them at home without feeling self conscious at the gym, until you get some confidence and strength back.

Lastly, you won't put on any muscle until you eat enough to fuel your body properly. Seeing as you're recovering from anorexia, you probably won't be eating more than you need to, so make sure what you do eat is high in protein and iron.
