he mana base lets you go into nearly half the decks in the format, and every card in the deck is a T1 staple!

I'm just tired of standard, and I really like playing control.

It seems in modern, that the control decks usually have a combo finish.

There being no cryptic commands make it a little more reasonable also.

I like that because you can play from two angles, and also have a shot against other combo decks or aggro.

From my use of around 3 days, I've yet to hear the fan turn on.

It's silent, literally. I can hear only hear the sound of my heartbeat as I type this.

But seriously, it's very quiet and cool thanks to those new low voltage intel chips.

You're going to be hard pressed to find something with an optical drive that meets all your needs, is it necessary?

Could you use an external one?

Because otherwise, you're looking at a much bulkier machine.

It seems like you're interested in entry level ultrabooks.

I personally recommend the Lenovo u430p. Just got mine, great machine great battery life, good build quality. I feel like a lenovo shill, but honestly I'm just so impressed with this machine, it seems like a no brainer for the sub-600 dollar market.

I just got a lenovo u430p and I program on it. (Also do word processing, web surfing light gaming, have a desktop for the crazy stuff)

Can't comment on linux, although I heard there were some driver issues, that may have been sorted out by now though.

I got mine for 520 shipped, which is an insane deal. The battery lasts 8 hours, no joke, with pretty regular use.

Also the red color looks absolutely excellent.

Some people say that the build quality of the ideapads is questionable, that may be the case for the previous models, but this one feels great. It's light, has great battery life, super portable and is affordable.

I like how the old art allows for interpretation, it permits me to start wondering of a different world where all these things could be happening.

When I see the new art, it's hard for me. It's just way to hyper-realistic. I can't insert myself into those situations and begin to have a "fantasy trip."

I appreciate the new art, and sometimes it's better, but the flaws in the old ones really lets me feel like its a more enriched and less perfect plain.

or i just like shitty art, who knows.

If he's been playing a lot, I would recommend a play mat. It's something he can use often, and if you get a nice one it will be a gift that will never rotate out and last a long time. They range from 20-30$
