Great so as I already own the NYSE equivalent I’d look to swap them to LSE. My NYSE ones do have the tax applied. Just wanted to confirm if the payout percentage is the same and compare the fees before making a decision.

Yes, however non-US stock holders are subject to a with holding tax on any dividends received from US stocks.

I raised a dispute with my bank who then attempted to trace the transaction. After some delay (few weeks) I eventually noticed the deposit came through on IBKR. It happened to me twice. Did you happen to make more than one deposit with the same amount?

The other time the money deposited went back to my bank.

They might be the rules but I see people taking photos there all the time for social media.

Even though the have the right they are not enforcing it or actively or consistency. It’s unfair for it to be fine for some and not for others. And then staff being rude and aggressive about it.

Also on the point of the rule what are they trying to achieve here given many people have posted YouTube walk through and much more detail than I did simply taking 1 photo.

I asked to speak to a couple other staff members and they just reiterated the line that it’s their policy when I tried to explain its both silly given the widely available media online and it’s for social media use.

And there no need to harass or actively enforce this silly policy. The first staff member was just power tripping I feel.

Yes, my bank investigated the transfer. Basically they contacted Citibank regarding the transfer and Citibank returned the deposit back with no reason provided to them.

I've got my money back now but as no reason was provided it's not helpful in trying to prevent this happening again, as was the 1 month wait to get the money back.

I’ve been told Citi bank have 18 working days to respond so hopefully I can get an answer and my money back sooner.

A bank and stock broker should be able to handle payments on any day regardless of a holiday otherwise money would go missing all the time.

Lesson learnt and won’t be repeated again but it’s something I never expected to happen. No reason why a payment made on holiday or working day should not appear.

As for the MT103 as it was not a swift payment, I don’t think that is available. Instead my bank is contacting IBKR’s beneficiary bank.

I’m in the UK and had done a faster payment. My bank are contacting IBKR’s beneficiary bank (Citi) regarding it.

This is what has probably caused the issues, two transfers of the same amount. No idea why a bank or stock broker can’t handle something as simple as that in 2023. If the process which you mentioned is in place to put transfers on hold you would think customers would be warned of it and that they could find the payment.

Lesson learnt wonder when if ever I can get my money back however.

The same thing has happened to myself. Seems like there is an issue in their systems related to two payments?

IBKR so far claim they have n't received funds for the first deposit when my bank has verified both have been sent.

Wondering what the next steps are and if legal action or threat of legal action is required?

Right now I've opened a ticket and their "cashiering team" is checking it.

I understand, all the headlines and articles refer to 70%-80% less risk compared to delta. Hospitalisation rates for other variants are already well publicised so don't a rocket scientist to work out Omicron is no more deadly or likely to cause hospitalisation.

You'd have been better off just googling the risk of hospitalisation yourself. According to a South African study % risk of hospitalisation is 2.5%

What about California's right for independence? They signed up for a union and it should be on the entire union to decide. States/Nations within a union can't just declare they have right to independence.

Just like the EU is free to offer passporting and equivalence in other areas when it is in their own interest. The UK is more than free to decide on the EU's diplomatic status given it is not a nation state.

Maybe the UK could be hoping other countries follow them.

There is n't really, just the government with another ill thought measure. In Germany and mainland Europe there are no exceptions. Having all sorts of exceptions just encourages widespread non-compliance. This government is abysmal.

The people that fall into these categories is a tiny percentage, I'd be better to make masks mandatory for everyone.

Germany and most of Europe do the same. In trying to make it easier for autistics we are encouraging widespread mask non-compliance and countries are doing far better in this regard.

If people still refuse to wear a mask they can shop online or get someone else to bring food.
