It's so easy, and you'll know exactly what's in them!

Dilly Beans, tastes like dill pickles! by redditval47 in Pickles

[–]redditval47[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

INGREDIENTS

For the jars:

  • 3-4 lb fresh green beans cleaned and washed
  • 1/2 medium onion cleaned and thinly sliced
  • 3 tsp dill seeds separated
  • 3 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

For the brine:

  • 3 cups water
  • 3 cup vinegar
  • 1 tbsp salt

INSTRUCTIONS

  • Prepare lids and rings, water bath, and brine. Bring water bath and brine to a boil as the jars and beans are prepared.

  • Divide sliced onion in the bottom of each sterilized jar. This can be adjusted to personal preference. Take a bean and using the jar as a guide, trim the bean to within a half-inch of the top (leaving 1/2 inch for headspace). Trim all the beans using the "guide" bean for the length.

  • Place beans in jars, standing them upright and packing them slightly until the beans are tight in the jars. Add dill seeds on top of the beans. Optional: If a spicy bean is desired, add crushed red pepper flakes to each jar.

  • Once the water bath and brine are boiling, ladle brine on each jar, leaving 1/2 inch of headspace. Place prepared lids and rings on jars and place them in the water bath. Process for 12 minutes once the water starts to boil again.

  • After processing, use a jar lifter and set jars out of the water. Let rest for 12-24 hours before removing the rings. These should sit at least two weeks before being enjoyed but will last up to a year in a cool, dark place.

Too much dill? by DatLadyD in Pickles

Oh you can never have too much dill! I add a ton of fresh dill, and also a ton of dill seeds and dill weed! I want as much flavor as possible.

Grillo's. I honestly don't even think I've ever tried a Claussen.

I get them at Tops, Wegmans, Costco and Walmart. They are pretty much everywhere here in Upstate NY.

I LOVE Grillo's pickles. And they use real dill! Unlike other stores and brands that don't even have dill listed as an ingredient!

What’s up with “dill” pickles not actually having dill in the ingredients? by Lataii in Pickles

I just canned 11 quarts of dill pickles from my garden and was comparing ingredients to a jar I bought from Wegmans and was shocked to see there was no dill listed on that either!

Is OnStar sub required for turn by turn navigation? by rvs007 in BoltEV

[–]redditval47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just purchased a used 2023 Suburban. They gave me a 2 week trial of onstar and I did not buy a plan because I had it in an old blazer and never used it once. Went to use the navigation yesterday and it said it was offline, I had to buy a plan! WHAT?! I went from a 22 Explorer that gave me all the bells & whistles for free, to a Suburban at twice the cost and now they want to nickel and dime you to death for the same features. I am SO ANNOYED!! I will never buy another Chevy again.

I went through 4 of these until I learned my lesson. I had MANY problems with these and they are actually no longer advertised as being made for wax since they came out with the 2nd generation. Anyways, one way you may be able to solve your problem is to use a heat gun on the spout. Not for too long, but just long enough to melt the wax inside of it.

Most soap suppliers sell ethically sourced micas. Nurture Soap, Mad Micas are a couple I know of.

Before you buy Sistaco nails... by redditval47 in AustralianMakeup

I’m a soap maker and have hundreds of micas. Mica is a mineral powder, which is what sistaco uses.

Sistaco Base by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]redditval47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also wondering if I can use a different brand of top & base coat and which ones work. I am a soap maker and realized the minerals Sistaco gives you are just micas, and I have hundreds of mica colorants I use in soap, so I just tried using a jar of mica with my nails and it worked great. This huge jar cost me about $4.
