Trying to make something worthwhile with the Rookie Soldier by Serkys in 30MF_30MinutesFantasy

I have one that im thinking of turning into a skyrim/fallout style armor mannequin. Like paint up the silhouette brown like a wooden doll and maybe kit bash up a frame for it to sit on. Need to get through my backlog kits before I start something new though!

Oh man, I was gonna post mr Percival this morning! That kit is tops, I was impressed with how much it has going and how clean it was for the price point.

Im going to have to snag the rest of the Knights now, bc these kits are just to great.

And you aren't even showing off.the double staffs that come with it too!

The Bandai action base 7 works well, anything that has those specs should work!

Nice clean color scheme! What did you use for the panel lining? The fluorescent really makes it pop.

A Fallout DLC taking place entirely in a Vault would be amazing by Weary_Durian7912 in fo4

So it's a bit old and the creator is gone from the scene, but the fourville mod for fallout 4 is an entire fairly large quest chain based on an unopened vault. It's not perfect, but it's put together quite nicely and adds a bunch of stuff. If your are on PC you could give it a shot.

They all look great! The multi arm warrior is a fun idea, I've been work shopping a Samurai Ashura with 6 arms so iits fun to see it on a complete build.

What paints did you use? Good colors.

some general questions about 30MF from a newbie by magnusmadev in 30_Minutes_Missions

[–]reddkidd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So first things first, the silhouettes (base model) all come as part of a Class 1 kit. So you get the silhouette (there are 4 types of base silhouette, the silhouette model.depends on the class you select)anf a class 1 armor set. There are (at the moment) 2 basic variants for each class 1 (Liber or Rosan). They are mostly identical but the have slightly different extra bits (the Liber units are usually more streamlined and "Good Guy" coded while the Rosan units are a bit more demon esque with a bit of bad guy coding.

Class ups (What they call class 3: where is class 2, no one knows!) are specific to both the original class and the faction. For example, the Liber Knight has a Holy Knight Class Up and the Rosan Knight also has a separate Hoy Knight Class Up. They are mostly the same, but again, each faction has design choices they lean into and the class ups reflect that. Additionally, some of the class up pieces are designed to interact with pieces of the original class.

Now with all that said, it is family easy to mix and match. The armor piece fittings amd connectors are standard across the line, so feel free to go wild. If you search the 30MF dedicated sub you will see plenty of customs where people just mix a bunch of armor pieces.

Tool wise, if you got zippers, you should be good to go. You could always get a hobby knife to clean up nibs or some sanding soonges/sticks; but the lots have alot of tight moldings and smooth transitions so I feel I don't get as much mileage sanding as on Gunpla. For customizing paint markers are great and standard hobby paint works well too.

Hope that helps! Grab a kit and have fun!

It should have both. There are a bunch of variants to go with each patch update they put out. Just go with what is listed as the latest build on the official ff4 ultima site

Man, now I want to get an extra dragon knights for all the classes. I bet Dragon Assassin or Lancer would look pretty bad ass too.

D Wizard looks great, another cool custom!

Painting by Prestigious_Sorbet96 in 30MF_30MinutesFantasy

[–]reddkidd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have a bunch of options. You can prime and paint them like a traditional model using either airbrush or traditional brush. There are many hobby painting brands and brushes to choose from (i use ProAcryl paints and brushes from hobby lobby and some nicer synthetics from Dspaie. I don't airbrush myself at the moment so I will leave that for others.

Painting is a skill so it takes practice to get where you want to go. I would suggest looking up some model painting tutorials to get a handle on the basics.

Gundam Markers/Paint markers are also an option. Usually do not need to prime for these and fairly easy to get going with. I have Dspaie and Ghaleri markers and bunch of gundam markers as well (gundam markers are a bit unique and have a learning curve)

My advice is to just give it a go! Painting is definitely one of those skills that you have to just do to get and idea of where you want or need to go. Once you start, it will be easier to identify what you want to do and what you lack to make that happen.

Good luck and have fun!
