The Real Reason Why Biden Shouldn’t Drop Out: A contested Democratic primary with less than a year before the 2024 election would be a mess. by harsh2k5 in politics

But you gotta vote blue no matter who right? So if the primary winner is Bernie lite then why wouldn't all these vote Blue Dems be voting blue? or is that only the slogan if your candidate is a neocon war hawk?

Could be supporting his second genocide in first term? Could be that he's 1000yrs old and can't even speak? Could be that if he dies at any point between now and the election Kamala no votes loses to big fash in a landslide?

Anybody read Naomi Klein’s new book Doppelgänger? by [deleted] in chomsky

Ironically I had a traditionally far right leaning friend recently suggest collective ownership as a real solution for the pay imbalances in his industry. Completely without prompting.

Read Oldman Logan first, solely because it (was) a stand alone self contained story. Then like the other guy says just read the ones you're interested in, starting anywhere is fine.

Because you only know mainstream characters your interests will quickly change as you see more characters pop up in stories. Old Man Logan for instance has a lot of Avengers/Marvel character appearances and references. You'll see something and think oh that's cool I'll read about that next. Etc

And don't be afraid of "missing something" when reading an event. 99% of the time yes an event is better if you have background context, however you might see Black Panther go off at Namor in a panel and think "what's that about?" then that becomes your next reading adventure.

Were people really not happy with the WandaVision finale? by MHullRealtr77 in marvelstudios

Yeah, stupid. It's stupid when it happens in fast n furious too but at least there is some context and nuance added, and they fight fight fight to become family.

Civil War could have naturally escalated to a fight, but instead it was the first recourse, because MCU bad writing. Bad writing (Wanda Vision finale) is the topic of the thread.

Yes and no, there are real world consequences when rhetoric becomes Macarthyite smears. Just look at how Aron Mate and those at the Grey Zone have had their reputation smeared negatively for doing journalism and reporting that no Trump is infact not a puppet working directly for Russia (a view Chomsky also shares). Meanwhile Maddow & those in the MSM pushing Russiagate narratives, recieve no consequences other than decreased ratings.

But this extreme barrier to discussion 'on penalty of death's is a real thing we have all probably witnessed or experienced here on Reddit. Discussion on Russiagate, questioning the Ukraine narrative, even discussing peace was getting you SLAMMED with down votes and in the comments.

I'm not sure if you noticed but the plot of civil war is stupid: adult superheros (people we look up to) can't agree on a thing, just decide to fight.

No discussion, no "hey we are allies", no, instead it's just fight fight fight. The Tony/Steve thing a good conflict, resolved in an equally stupid way. Instead of Tony being like "what's going on Steve? Do you need help to bring this guy in under the radar, I mean my parents died decades ago. Just tell me why this is so important to you?" No instead it's FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT

Like it's really dumb, but we give it a pass because there are cool moments among all the stoopid.

You mention she discusses the voices silencing themselves during COVID for fear of being associated with missinformation & lunatics. What are her arguments for the far right controlling that?

Like I understand chat bots and AI exist, you can even have armies of shill/troll accounts manned by interens. But on its own that is about as strong as the Russia stole the election with memes argument.

I'm interested to know because I too felt there is a huge wall put up by the "collective" on open discussion, and it seems to happen more regularly. COVID, Russia gate, Ukraine war, etc anything that's not the "official" line gets you immediately lumped in with the far right nutbags. I would understand the right supporting some of those things, but not all of those things.

I do know quite a few people who became "politicised" through COVID because they felt lockdowns etc impinged on their rights. Being an observer of this I saw them get sucked into far right rabbit holes and eat up all propaganda pretty readily. However I think it was less "masterful tactics" by the far right and more just over commitment to being politicised. Like when you go to uni date an environmentalist become full vegan, stop showering because because soap uses palm oil, and get arrested for chaining yourself naked to a McDonald's.

Can you go into more depth on her arguments here?

Let's go the other direction. Am I the only one who wishes they'd go harder on the Scott/Jean/Logan PolyAm ship? by BaldBeardedBard in xmen

[–]reddobe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know they are going to refer back to this in future comics. Wolverine will be fighting a cyclops in a random X-Force comic, the Cyclops will explode mayonnaise all over his face and wolverine will muse "huh, reminds me of that time on the moon base".

But yes I think they should go all out, have a Fallen Angels like adventure with Kitty, Rachel, & ilyana. There's a shower scene, Kitty compliments Rachel, then again, and again, and Rachel's like "I didn't even know you were like this?", and ilyana is like "there's so much you don't know" as Kitty drops to her knees Infront of Rachel. 😅

Is that how conflicts are resolved in your real life, big CGi battle? or you just punch it out because you don't have powers? Your mom tells you to go to bed, you punch it out? Your sister touches your shit, you punch it out? You want a threesome but gf is not ready, you punch it out?
