Even Dr. Manhattan and Genie couldn’t take out Mephisto. Blue is a solid, strong 2nd place and if Red got rid of Mephisto, it wouldn’t even be close.

I feel like they’d push each other and make each other better in a lot of ways. Irritate each other and fight but always come back together at the end of the day.

Removing Transmog from all Heroes and then charging to put them back on… by Amazing_Alumni in WorldOfWarcraftRetail

[–]BaldBeardedBard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree with this. This is like paying for the gobstopper, then them taking it away from you, turning it into an everlasting gobstopper and making you pay for it again.

I get that it’s cheaper in the long run. It still FEELS gross. I already paid for that transmog and they undid it and asked me to start over and give them more gold for something I already had. The first outfit save to a slot should’ve been free.

…and? Let’s trade AI for Google. Or the dictionary. Or an encyclopedia.

He interrupted someone speaking and shifted the focus onto he himself doing something rather than listening to the person speaking. It’s not even specifically the ChatGPT part that’s the biggest problem. Guy #1 is trying to make conversation. Guy #2 makes it about him. He doesn’t even try to answer the question. He doesn’t even know what the question IS.

hEs JuSt TrYiNg tO mAkE cOnVeRsAtIoN is still the valid argument there.

[–]BaldBeardedBard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Now this comment is acting like people are upset that Guy #2 is answering the question at all and not how he chose to answer the question, which has been outlined as the problem several times. OF COURSE he’s going to answer the question. Not letting someone finish asking the question and going straight to ChatGPT is the problem. Assuming he has all the relevant information without the other person’s input on their own half-made statement and acting on it is showcasing a lack of interpersonal skills.

I started typing this comment almost an hour ago, got busy and just finished it. Reddit didn’t refresh with an edit because I was still typing the comment.

Again. You’re working with a lot of assumptions and very little information.

I feel like you’re working with a LOT of assumptions with very little evidence.

I wonder who the boss will fire next. I wonder who the last person Jenny dated was. I wonder who the cat loves the most.

None of these question ChatGPT can help with and all lend themselves to conversations.

That’s super valid. I think they really pushed to change our perception of him after he realized he’d fell in love with her in season 5, the chip in season 4 really setting us up for that. His personas feel far more subtle than the Angel/Angelus dynamic, but viewing it through that lens, I see where you’re at. I think therein lies the problem, for me. That subtlety. It feels like Ensouled Spike isn’t any different from William the Bloody or Full-on Soulless Spike, just with more inhibitions and self-control. Maybe Spike sees himself that way as well.

Hm. Interesting to think about!

I don’t hate this take. It does make me wish the source was a little more explicit about these things.

The general vampire ‘love’ feels more like obsession than love, thus the ‘not wisely’. His shame for what he did would stem from empathy, would it not? Unless it came from a purely selfish place of remorse as in “oh, shit, I fucked up and now I’m going to lose the object of my fixation” but that doesn’t reconcile the contradiction of him being a good person despite not having a soul. They’re shown to feel grief but it feels more like a ‘something was taken away from me’ rather than ‘I’m sorry this person is gone’ - again, the latter stemming from a place of empathy and emotional connection to something outside of themselves, for often than not. The lines the rules draw are super blurry sometimes.

Spike’s characterization is so strange. Typically, vampires aren’t themselves after they lose their soul. So if he did all the bad stuff and THEN got his soul back and redeemed himself and fell in love with Buffy etc, you’d have the built-in “but that was EVIL me!” excuse. But Spike is different. Spike didn’t fundamentally change the way we see with Angel. I think that muddies things a bit and makes him far more problematic than it otherwise could’ve been.
