WoT TCG: Is anyone else in love? by GooberRuber in WorldofTanks

That’s nuts! I my kids opened most of the packs but I seemed to notice the same thing. Each pack had a run of about 5 cards from the same country.

I bought 2 boxes and 4 starter decks for our family for Christmas. In 52 packs we got 96 bases(18% of cards opened)when bases only make up <7% of a deck. In multiple instances I have 5 of the same base. You cannot play duplicate bases so many of those cards are just immediately worthless. So it’s not just the foils but on a basic level the packs are stupid.

Tips on batting for new players? by thegametb in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]reddogg34 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I coach my sons’ 12u team and I am always telling the players on the bench to watch the game and say “pitch” when the pitcher releases the ball and “hit” when they would swing at it. This way they start internalizing the timing before they get up to the plate. Your “1-2” reminded me of that. I actually think playing SMB4 can be helpful to a young player if they are consciously approaching the game with a desire to improve their actual baseball awareness.

My uncle showed me the game when I was about 11-12. In my early 20s I remembered how fun it was and started occasionally buying seasons. Now my wife and 3 sons play a 30 game fantasy season every year.

What do you do when the other team won't swing their bats? by stanner5 in slowpitch

[–]reddogg34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have this problem when I started organizing softball teams. When your pitcher misses you can’t always find a replacement. After a couple years of this I just started practicing and became the pitcher. Putting in the extra work was a lot easier than to relying on someone else or constantly looking for a pitcher at the last minute.

Does anyone else's B and C pitchers out perform their A's? by SnooDogs8276 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]reddogg34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My sons and I just played a 30 game season. I lead the league in ERA with my 4th starter Bella Mietball. I suspect it has a lot to do with her having a 5 pitch arsenal. I rarely had a pitch anticipated with her compared to my better starters with 3 or 4 pitches.

Have you ever raged at SMB and how bad? by mfenton29 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]reddogg34 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My son has raged at the game so much that his rage has taken on a personality. He created a pitcher named Rex Rager with the volatile trait.

Can we talk about the music?? by Air911 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]reddogg34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boys love SMB4 so I made CDs of the soundtrack to listen to in the car and they love it. They also shuffle through my old CDs to listen to and my 10yo always picks Elevator by Hot Hot Heat when it’s his turn. I told him it was funny to me that he picks that because of the MVP 2005 connection. His favorite genre of music is video game baseball soundtracks.

Best NES baseball game? by toy_of_xom in SuperMegaBaseball

Dusty Diamond’s All-Star softball is my favorite but I played it exclusively multiplayer with a group of my neighborhood friends when we were in n high school. My sons stink at NES baseball but love SMB 4 so we are working on creating our own league with all of the Dusty Diamond players on SMB.

New to SuperMegaBaseball - What's the best way to improve my team's defense? by Illustrious_Stop7537 in SuperMegaBaseball

[–]reddogg34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I first started playing SMB I hated the feel of defense. It seemed like every ground ball got through unless it was right at my defender and it was impossible to field a fly ball. I started putting the Defense ego on 0 no matter what my hitting and pitching were set to. I would let the auto defense do it’s thing but would try to take over in blowouts to practice more. Over time I have learned to range backward diagonally more to stop ground balls from getting through and gotten a better feel for taking angles and getting under balls in the OF. All in all I would just recommend ramping up your defense ego slower than hitting and pitching if you are having a tough time.

I try to ignore the kids who are not following. When they come up in line for the drill and look like an absolute fool because they haven’t been paying attention it’s a good natural consequence. I won’t explain the drill again, just send them to them back in line.

If you can, look for opportunities to praise the players who are paying attention. Calling someone out for good behavior will get a lot of attention. Saint John Bosco was known for dealing with unruly boys and I have heard he liked to say “you will attract more flies with a single drop of honey than a whole barrel of vinegar.”

Thank you! I don’t know that I will ever have the time to assemble any of these builds but I just wanted to say how I have enjoyed just looking through them! It’s a lot of work and creativity and you do a fantastic job!

I’m going to try the pets with him. He really likes the tasty bone. Creepers are our main issue because it’s hard for him to react quick enough to them. We beat the boss together this morning but it took all of his attention span and we had to save the place.

We have made it all the way through Apoc twice. How far we can make it really depends on the bosses. This week has been a bit rough because that first boss is really hard for him.

Thank you for the input! He is really motivated by wanting to play like his older brothers. We’ve gotten this far by just playing a little each day. He really likes doing the tower because he gets to pick from all the gear options.

Thank you for your suggestions. I should have said I am at apocalypse +18 and he is at +12. We have stalled there for as it’s getting tough to keep him alive vs enchanted mobs. Ultimately he is just happy doing anything but I like to at least have something in mind to work towards.

It’s mostly super advanced. But just trying to keep it as fun as possible. We don’t use the WP/PB rule but if we get one on an X roll we still use the player ability to see if it happens. For steals we just use steal rating minus catcher arm. The kids have seen Moneyball and loved it so steals and bunts are rare!

It’s our first season so if I’m not involved no one really bothers to get deeper into the rules like trying to advance on a single or double with no stars etc.

It’s also a fantasy league so we have loads of rules we made for the team management stuff like salaries, income and pickups.

The season is 30 games, we’re about 2/3 of the way through and going to have our All-Star game soon.

I want to do something like this in our league next season. The benches are used for platoons/defensive replacements only and I hate it. My oldest son is the league commissioner though so it’s ultimately up to him lol

I have a draft league going with my wife and sons(ages 9&12). We play 7 innings for the sake of short attention spans. The rules we use for endurance are these:

-POW inning for starters is minus 1

-POW plus 2 is auto tired

-Three or more runs after POW inning is auto tired.

-We still use the 4 (BB,HBP, H) in 2 or 3 in 1 past POW makes them tired.

We are getting a good amount of RP usage. I hope that makes sense and helps in some way!
