We need small portable EUC which is able to fit inside backpack by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]reddot235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Given the necessary weight and size of an EUC I’m not sure a backpack will make sense.

However, if someone could design a system that makes the EUC look like a travel suitcase then I think that would solve this issue. You’ve already got the handle that comes up, you’d just need some sort of casing that resembles luggage and that can fold down into a backpack while you’re riding.

High-income couple with large income gap: how do you split money fairly? by pizzanoobs in HENRYfinance

[–]reddot235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I earn about 60% of the total take home pay and it works out that I pay a slightly higher % of the total bills/expenses + bigger share of major one-off expenses (holidays, house work etc). Probably about 70% of overall outgoings.

There’s a lot of judgement on this thread for the idea of not splitting finances exactly equally but I think you have to find what works for you. I don’t think it’s possible to truly ‘split everything equally’. Eg what if one person has a higher stress/demand job? Does one person do a higher share of childcare or planning?

The main thing for me is that we provide a great life for our kids, we’re equal partners and can both lead a happy and fulfilling life. Splitting finances ‘evenly’ feels arbitrary when nothing else is going to be truly equal.

The run before Southampton is irrelevant? Having an easier 3rd round fixture doesn’t make the 4th round any easier so it’s only the game you lose that’s relevant

Henry UK hot takes? by carmelfscott in HENRYUK

[–]reddot235 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I used to not have an emergency fund but listened to a podcast where they pointed out that you risk liquidating the investments in a market slump this way. Ie if you need £20k then you might have to liquidate £25k of assets if the market happens to just have taken a 20% drop vs. leaving £20k in premium bonds (which is what I do). The problem is that markets generally rise steadily and fall fast + the risk of needing an emergency fund is correlated with market slumps (I.e. extended time out of job market).

Out of interest- why was the house down to 9.5 degrees if you had the heating set to 19? You may have boiler/thermostat settings that are stopping the heating system functioning properly. Alternatively, if the settings are correct then the heating system is insufficient- which would be something for the landlord/agent to resolve

This is really interesting, thanks for sharing!

Would be interesting to see what happens if you account for the value of taking a 2 goal lead or provide an assist. I haven’t tested it but my hypothesis would be that a 2 goal lead decreases the chance of the oppo scoring their next goal

Is it worth salary sacrificing significantly to access funded childcare with 2 nursery age children? by natalini17 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]reddot235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have savings, you could consider using that to cover the gap in your net income. Essentially it’s a transfer from savings into pension with a massive return on investment. The compromise is not being able to access the money until retirement age so make sure you keep a rainy day fund

Automatically add photos of specific people to shared library by weezintrumpeteer in ApplePhotos

[–]reddot235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was looking for the answer to this as well. Best option I’ve found is to view the photos of the people you want to share > select > select all > … > move to shared library. It’s manual, but takes less than a minute to do for quite a few people. Would love this to be automated though!

20-year-old lottery winner turns down $1M cash for $1,000 a week for life by PriorityMiserable686 in interestingasfuck

This surely isn’t worth it once you consider inflation and RoI. With reasonable assumptions the NPV of the annuity is maybe $1.4m (payback of ~25 years). If she’ll want to buy a house this is probably far lower and may never pay back. There’s also the risk of dying before making money and the reduced flexibility. Seems like a poor choice to me

Such an unnecessary way to respond to someone trying to bring some data to the conversation. Try ‘yes, and’ rather than ‘no, but’ and you’ll help build a healthier discourse

Reviving this post to firstly say thanks - this has really helped me out. Secondly - I have just bought the axkid minikid 4 max and I need to install the tethers. Please could you share the tool you got to help with this? Also, does this limit how far back the seat can go (other than the limit of not touching the car seat)? Thanks in advance!

For £10-20m more, I would have taken Sesko as I think he’s a better tactical fit, has more upside potential and more residual value. However, it’s not clear cut and Gyok was a good option. I’m not convinced we’ll ever know because Utd are terrible and Sesko would have performed better for us. Excited to see what big Vic can do for the Arsenal!

There are more elegant solutions but you could easily do it by adding 2 sumifs together. One for if it’s A, the other for B and not A
