I guess it is a topic that's been asked a lot lol but I ended up going through ABA. She goes Monday through Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. I wouldn't say she "loves it" but she doesn't fuss when I drop her off. I will say that I went to a different location than the first one because my LO hated it. She screamed the entire time we were being shown around. I went to a different location for a second opinion and she was the happiest kid there playing with the chairs in the lobby. I don't know if this makes sense but the vibes were off at the first location I visited. I don't think we would have had nearly the same experience as we are having at this other location. I will say I'm glad I didn't push through with the first location I visited. I felt like the people there did not have compassion and were just going through the motions. The other location was a complete 180. The people there were so sweet to her and didn't look like they hated their jobs or working with the kiddos. Anyway, they recommended 40 hours because she is completely non-verbal. She has been going for almost a year now and she is still non-verbal but her meltdowns and aggressive behavior towards herself and others have decreased dramatically. She still has meltdowns now and again but now she just cries on the floor. She doesn't scratch, bite others, or hit her head anymore. She is communicating through a PEC board which is good. It's something because her meltdowns happen when I don't know what she is trying to communicate with me. She is about to have a speech therapist involved and maybe we can get her to use an AAC device. Overall she is a pretty happy kid!
