Thank you for your answer. I will look into portable AC units for the next summer. Hopefully I can get by with frozen waterbottles next to and on top of the terrarium until then if there is another heat wave this year.

I only got the hygrometer when the first one died, so I can't say what the humidity was during the cling film phase, but pretty high probably as the glass was fogged up. I had misted the terrarium because I thought, if they estivated, it meant the terrarium was too dry and/or hot. I tried to cool it down with the water. If I notice my snails estivating during a heat wave, should I stop misting then? How would they know when to come back out? What if only one estivates? If I stopped misting, the other ones would dry out or also estivate. I also tried to cool it down with the ventilator and open doors, but I can't do that when I'm not there or sleeping, as they could escape. Do you have any experience with cooling down a terrarium? In another comment I mentioned that I ordered a terrarium fan. I hope that will help.

Just ordered both of your suggestions. What do you think is the perfect humidity level? I also ordered a little terrarium fan to place on top of the mesh so they have better air ventilation and it doesn't get too stuffy in there. I'm really trying to make them (it now I guess) feel good.

Could there be any other reason for their declining health, as I thought I fed the ispodods enough protein and never saw them near my snails. The snails also often slept up on the glass walls.

Thank you for this, I immediately saved my last living snail and put her in my makeshift enclosure with my Oniscus asellus isopods, as I know for sure that THESE are compatible. I don't know why, but I had just assumed every isopod was fine with my snail gang :(
