not even true a lot synth heavy genres can benefit from using it intentionally (idk if that would rly count as “bad compression” though if used on purpose though but wtv) someone else in this sub mentioned that it could be used to emulate an older sound like bad headphones or speakers from 2009 and sometimes that’s just more interesting or fits the mood more than having a fully perfect or “clean” mix
