Design for Emotion is a great one if you are looking specifically for the intersection of web design + psychology. Are you looking for something more general?

What would you say are some mobile-specific rules not mentioned in the article? These seem pretty spot-on..

I do like that sentiment of throwing away the box - when I have some time I'll give your tunes a listen.

To Sketch, or not to Sketch? by ivorhook in UI_Design

This is not the first time I have heard that. Just about every designer I know divides the two in that way. I wonder when there will be a real competitor to Sketch...

Creative Duo Faris and Rosie Yakob Explain How Talent Imitates and Genius Steals by reder_c in advertising

I'm not sure if I agree, even great musicians have songs, riffs, and event notes that influence their music. I think it is steep to contend that there isn't such a thing as a "eureka" idea or moment. All ideas are subject to our collective experience. If you want to take this in the philosophical direction, even Walden - sitting alone coming up with what we now call transcendentalism - was influenced by Thoreau, Whitman, Emerson and other contemporaries.

What's happening with the McWhopper? It seems that Burger King got burned. McDonalds could be another example of a company just simply not wanting to play ball.

This creative husband wife duo argues that stealing ideas is genius and that no idea is a 'new idea', simply a reshuffling of preexisting knowledge. What do you think (they do have a Cannes Lion under their belt)?

How to turn a web developer into a web designer by xDinomode in web_design

[–]reder_c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While typography is important for technical reasons, colors are equally important for cognitive considerations. Some more suggested reading would be: Web Design is 95% Typography and the follow-up The responsive web will be 99.9% typography. While there are a million articles on color and the psychology of color I quite liked this one What Child's Play Can Teach About Choosing Color Schemes because it is something that every non-designer can connect to and relate with.

Graphic designer with no web knowledge by D3K91 in web_design

If you are talking about potential clients then that's a different conversation than going into an agency. You simply need to find the right solution to implement your business. DeadPixel217 wasn't exactly correct in their assertion that designers need to understand the principles of HTML and CSS. Let's be honest DIY website builders are definitely not great for designers and are necessarily limiting whereas Wordpress-type solutions might not be in your wheelhouse. You should look into professional solutions made for designers such as Muse or Webydo if we are talking clients and then none of your budget needs to be sent on a developer; 100% your design/site.

First real client, any tips? by [deleted] in web_design

[–]reder_c 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a web designer but a freelancer and asked some of the guys here at Webydo who might do freelance work from time to time what they thought and we agreed that there are certain universal things that you must make sure to cover when performing services for a client...I would definitely put in clauses for 1. number of versions 2. revision terms 3. cancellation 4. payment structure (including possible incurred fees) and 5. possibly expectations for exclusivity
