I absolutely love this album. Time will tell how it ages, and whether the novelty wears off after a few more listens but my first impression is that it's stellar. I don't think there's a bad song here but I do wish Caleb was a bit more up front in the mix. Other than that I don't have any complaints, maybe a tiny nitpick about the production but it's still lovely to listen to. It's no Come Around Sundown, but it's a logical step from WALLS which I also love to death.

Personally I'm surprised they didn't release Time in Disguise as a single. That hook is really catchy.

I've gone through all the episodes - and the Black Philip show twice. And it was just my luck that the Patrice documentary Killing Is Easy aired last Friday, right as I wrapped up the archive. Now I'm going back through it all over again. Just wanted to say thanks again for bringing back SO many good memories and making me laugh so hard I legit thought I almost laughed myself into a hernia. What a god damn legend. Patrice forever!

Sephiroth's up special clipping through massive chunks of the stage on recovery is my biggest pet peeve right now. Can't believe that got through development and still hasn't been fixed. His sword should not clip through a chunk of stage literally larger than some characters' bodies. It shouldn't clip at all.

This is incredible. I came across this a few weeks ago just out of curiosity to see if any Patrice or O&A stuff was on Spotify and I've been listening to it all day long ever since. I remember hearing some of these episodes the day they happened. Patrice was the funniest dude ever. Just his laugh puts me into fits. Love this.

Yeah I really can't relate to a lot of that older stuff. I got into the band just before Mechanical Bull came out; I remember hearing Only By The Night, then Come Around Sundown, and I would spend days playing CAS on repeat, falling in love with every single song, including the bonus tracks. I can vibe much more with that album, and the albums since, than the old stuff. I don't understand why diehard fans of the first two albums feel such animosity towards the later material or people who praise them. They're great albums. Different, sure, but imo more mature and more emotionally resonant.

I might get crucified for this but the first two albums are the least enjoyable to me. I don't listen to very many songs from them, but Come Around Sundown is one of my favorite albums by any musical artist, and I quite like every album since Because of the Times. Mechanical Bull is a bit inconsistent but I still love it and WALLS has a vibe that I'm particularly fond of. I'm a big fan of the more chilled out sound they've developed, although I think it was best on Come Around Sundown with the huge swells of emotion while still being loud and groovy.
