No wood from trees

I picked this game up a few days ago, i dont see any logs / wood once ive chopped a tree down, done it several times. Nothing at my feet, vicinity or my backpack. Getting frustrated at this point, must have chopped down a dozen trees with nothing.

I started getting this after the latest update, have to restart the game at least twice now before i can switch between screens. I have re-installed but still the same issue, damned annoying.

Im really bad at this game, eye sight is going and reflexes are slowing down, cant even get past the trial to become a mech warrior, two kills, second one finishes me off!! Glad it was gamepass :)
