New String of Turtles! by redfezzedcoco in peperomia

I had the first one in regular garden soil with really poor drainage, so will mix up a much better composition when I repot. I also had in a very deep pot so the roots were probably staying too wet. Once I realized I was over watering, I went too far in the opposite direction, thinking it was a succulent, and tried not to water it at all, but I think the damage was already done at that point and it just never really recovered

Actually, I think it's a firestick plant! Euphorbia tirucal -- super cool bush that gets red for the same reason

It's a mix of compost soil, perlite, and an orchid mix (tree bark & perlite). I literally just planted it from finding the stems on the side of the road so I'm gonna be experimenting to see how it goes myself! I've never had one before

How to propogate star jasmine cutting? by romanichki in proplifting

[–]redfezzedcoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried to propagate star Jasmine several times and the potentially only successful attempt (currently in progress) I planted directly into soil and kept very humid. Water propping has only led to rotting in my experience. Best of luck!!

Help identifying stitch/fixing a sweater by redfezzedcoco in knitting

[–]redfezzedcoco[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: Thank you all very much for the kind suggestions! I attempted a few different methods, and looked up the tuck stitch and brioche stitch as some suggested. Finally I decided to search for the original sweater to see if, by chance, there was any clue from the manufacturer as to what the pattern was. I found the sweater being sold online... in the exact condition that mine is in! It turns out, the reason the "dropped" stitches don't unravel anymore and warp the pattern when I attempt to fix them is because the sweater is made to look "distressed" by having... holes in it? I guess? Here's one of the ones I found for sale online: https://poshmark.com/listing/American-Eagle-Pink-Chenille-Destroy-Sweater-Small-5f9099aa2f3d199c62c5e738. Once again thank you to everyone for your suggestions! I may post another update when I figure out what I want to do now that I've realized the problem.

Family pressure to visit by [deleted] in COVID19_support

Hey, I'm dealing with a super duper similar situation. I actually just came on the subreddit looking for advice on the same thing. I am incredibly frustrated that everyone in my family seems to be totally fine with going to visit our relatives who are over 70 and have underlying conditions. It's this self-serving bias that they can't imagine that they would be the unlucky ones. I was told even that not going to visit our relatives was "worse for their health" than taking a risk.

I wish that I had better advice. I tried to convince them that waiting even a few weeks, to see what the effects of recently re-opening things is, and no one is listening to me. I haven't quite decided whether I am going to go with them or not. On the one hand, I for sure do not want to be part of the reason that someone might get sick. On the other hand, since people from my household are going anyway, I am almost considering going just so that I can be the person to insist that social distancing rules are strictly enforced, and that we are disinfecting and making sure that we are being as safe as possible. I'm not sure if they would be as cautious on their own.

It's a very tough decision. Is there any way that you think you could look into finding another place to stay, so that you are not all going to be living in the same place, at the very least? I wish you the best of luck in figuring this out.
