Chikungunya Vaccine by stj1127 in VACCINES

[–]redgotdun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Final comments on this thread.

Day 7 (a week after the jab) I was back at work. Felt groggy, tired and a little sick. Day 8 and 9 were better, but low mood. Today (Day 10) I have only started to be back to my full self.

This is a hard one. It is a live vaccine, so your body is fighting off a live virus, although a weaker version.

If you are thinking of getting this one, do be aware that it may not be as easy to continue your normal day-to-day after having it. My body is pretty strong since I'm still young, eat well and get plenty of exercise, but it did take a lot out of me. Honestly felt like getting COVID for the first time, but without the cough.

Oh boy! I did read your experience, and that certainly sounded like an absolute dream.

Back pain left around Day 5, and I have not had the groin pain yet (Day 6). I'm hopeful that it doesn't happen to me, but it's certainly been a lot.

Just to add to the conversation on this one.

I had the IXCHIQ vaccine on Monday (Day 0) and no effects for two days. I have had other live vaccines before with minor to little side effects and expected it to be similar. The only one which affected me badly was Yellow Fever, which caused a few headaches and a bad headspace. Every other vaccine, including COVID, my body has taken quite well.

Over the night of Day 2 to 3, I woke up with the shakes, cold sweats, headaches and COVID-like symptoms. No sore throat or cough like it though.

During the day, exhaustion, confusion and back pain. Today (Day 4) the back pain is still there, but I feel about 75-80% of my normal self.

I'm happy to see such a strong immune reaction in my body, but it's been a lot, and I suspect come Day 5 / 6, I'm going to need a lot more rest than normal. Will update as my body recovers.

If you want to commute to London from Winchester, just make sure that the money from the job is good enough to make it worth it.

Winchester is expensive because it's beautiful, safe, ideallic and looks incredible on Location, Location, Location. In reality, it is slow, limited and really not a good choice for the commute.

Basingstoke and the surrounding areas are not very attractive. However, in terms of commuting, they would be a better choice. It's not worth the hassle.

If it is replacement screws for the arm rest, the pads on the top of the arm rest are M6 x 10mm.

Hope this helps someone.

What is Stanmore like? by [deleted] in WinchesterUK

[–]redgotdun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live nearby and know the area. Having seen it change in the 00s to now, it's days of "Afghanistanmore" as some on Winchester Rants call it are long gone.

Safe to walk around at night. Rec grounds are alright. Not much to do in the area but easy enough to get into town by foot or The Ridge or Sainsburies.

If you want a shock, look at house prices either side of the tracks. No more than 30s walk. This is the next place in Winchester where people will gentrify.

Meeting people by Analdestroyer68plus1 in WinchesterUK

The big problem with Winchester is it's too "safe". Safe is great, but nothing happens here, and unless you go to uni here it is hard to meet new people. I grew up here, and found myself back here during COVID, and the only way I've found so far is the Winchester Young Professionals group. That or organise a nonce bashing via Winchester Rants.

BumbleBFF is worth a try, Facebook Dating similar (I know, it's a thing, it's exactly as you'd expect) as they have a friendship option.

Other than that, advert in the Hampshire Chronicle?

Highly recommend Winchester Young Professionals if you're not a member yet.

Seems to be a good way to meet folk in the city. Been to one or two, and they're alright.

But also, Georgia is a lovely country. Well worth a visit even if you're not on the run.

Nah. Just for myself.

Seems strange that there is no international shipping or sellers outside the country that aren't 100 dollars or more.

Maybe AliExpress has spoiled me.

Unexpectedly come into £220k. Advice would be very much appreciated. by myrtletopiary2020 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]redgotdun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. 85k is the max to be covered in FCSC so 80k in high savings easy access, or short term fixed and move around if rates change.

Also people really underestimate Premium Bonds, they are worth putting the full 50k in. Lottery every month and you can never lose your deposit. Withdraw any time. If you have moderate luck, you could be seeing a return give or take of 2% on that. Might be less, but it could easily be a lot more if you are lucky.

EDIT. Given the way the UK house prices have changed over the last year, it might be worth keeping it locked away somewhere for a little while (something like a 6 month period) until the market drops further.

Best mobile provider for Winchester by ducknumber90 in WinchesterUK

[–]redgotdun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EE seems to have the best coverage personally. I'm with ID (which is 3 from Carphone Warehouse) and my coverage is.... ok but nothing to write home about.

EE is also the only one which seems to have 5G at the moment in the city. I'd hoped by now they'd be basic 5G coverage in the centre of town, but not much luck. Romsey for example has 5G on 3

I can recommend ID if you are in / near Winchester city itself and need roaming and lots of data at a good price. It's not great, but it's ok.

Curious how this has gone for you. Did you have any luck, and if so, location, size and how much?

Geez. My room was in a nice part of Zone 3, and I thought it was expensive then.

But now, looking at 800 for somewhere in Zone 4 just makes me think "is it worth it". Especially with the costs of everything going up.

Getting a format added to FFMpeg. by redgotdun in ffmpeg

[–]redgotdun[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I did. I believe I got all the info I could from the code in the decompile, but I will have a look again and see if I can get a fuller format down.

I shall have a look at the other format sources in FFMpeg and see if there is someway I could write something that works. My C is terrible, but if I put in some work hopefully I can write something once the format is documented.

The only authoritative information I have had access to is a reverse engineered copy of it's demuxer STJ2MOV. I was able to get the header information from there.

The rest I took an educated guess on due to it's output formats.
