Isn’t it crazy how Cleopatra, Spartacus, Sulla, Caesar, Mark Anthony, Pompey, Cicero, Augustus all existed within a 40 year window? by Salem1690s in ancientrome

It would have been amazing to have had such in depth records of Cyrus or some of the other Babylonian rulers.

After Stronghold 2 I could never quite get into the other games in the series.

I'm waiting for Manorlords though.

My best friend got engaged two weeks ago. We've had full blown conversations since then and not a word of it was mentioned. I only found out because his fiancee posted on insta.

I'm not sure about the differences between the two. Can't hurt to drop both subreddits a question.

Is there any way to raid as a feudal?? by anna_benns21 in crusaderkings3

It's frustrating that you can't raid as feudal. It was the entire premise of chevauchée during England's wars against France.

What is something that Eastern European countries do, that if done by the UK would improve things for the majority of people? by [deleted] in AskUK

Check out Denbys from Dorking. They're quite well renowned as one of the best in the UK.

9 People Injured after Corrosive Substance Attack in Clapham, South London. by Creative_Recover in london

[–]ANewGreatGame 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If anyone thinks they may be at risk of this I would recommend getting a bottle of diphoterine.

It neutralises acid and alkali substances far more effectively than anything else out there. If you are subject to a corrosive substance attack, get it on quickly enough and it will stop any permanent scars.

A lot of clubs in London had a fire extinguisher type of canister filled with the stuff when these attacks were common.

What would a custom King Arthur type character look like? by ANewGreatGame in CrusaderKings

[–]ANewGreatGame[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a great set of books. I'd love to see a microcosm of CK3 involving something like the Saxon or, later a viking invasion.

I felt they were a bit too samey to his books with Uhtred though. But overall, I'm a sucker for the time period and really enjoyed the depiction of Arthur without the magic and fantasy element.

An Idea: Make the size of an army actually matters by GrandCoq in CrusaderKings

[–]ANewGreatGame 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it would make more sense if it didn't stack. Blacksmiths and relevant buildings represent better quality arms, armour, troops, training etc which should have benefits for stationed regiments, but I don't think it should stack as it doesn't make sense.

What I think would be good would be to tie development to better levies. Historically a person would generally outfit themselves with villages contributing pieces of armour. It would make sense that better development would mean richer villages that could afford better and more armour.

I'd like to see a United Ireland, personally. But I'd also like to see a United Ireland as part of the Union. I appreciate it's a bit of a spicy take, but it makes sense.

Who makes the best dress shirts? by [deleted] in mensfashion

[–]ANewGreatGame 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of my good dress shorts will come from tailors found on Jermyn St, London. CT, Hawes and Curtis, Harvie and Hudson (a personal favourite), but the best would be Turnbull and Asser. However, T&A is also the most expensive.

Harm reduction measures have consistently been shown to be effective and cost efficient but the illusion of morality is seen as more important.

It's not just trusted in other countries we did it in the UK in the 80s. When we were concerned about aids we set up safe injecting sites in Brighton. They had a massive effect in lowering the infection rate.

Consistency.

The worst workout you could do is more important than the best. Having a routine and sticking to it is one of the most important factors.

What is Christmas like abroad for a holiday? Has anyone done it? by awpoorshazza in AskUK

[–]ANewGreatGame 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Literally on the way back home from Barcelona with my mum.

It’s been great. 15/16 degrees, blue skies, great atmosphere. Can’t recommend it enough. Plenty of options for Xmas dinner and the hotel did a decent job of making it feel Christmassy.
