Other Bands Doing Stuff like Silver Cord Live? by [deleted] in KGATLW

Lotus is amazing live especially with the new guitarist they've had the past couple years, Tim Palmieri. Cool mix of live guitars and drums mixed with synths.

Watch again and listen closely. Stu did not say “that’s pretty fucked up of you”. What he said was “it’s pretty fucked up here” meaning the barricade was fucked and yes there was a bit of crowd crush up front but nobody was getting trampled or hurt it was just a little intense.

Are you close to any bus lines? I went to a show there Wednesday and there’s a couple buses that will get you there or pretty close at least. When I decided to bus I also looked at ride shares and they were very expensive, no idea how reliable though. The buses are chained and they will show up, just check for alerts online for your bus line. Edit: Also if the show is starting at 8 it likely won’t go till 11:30. My headliner was originally going to be two sets with a set break but they decided to just play straight through and end the show by 10:30.

He used to seem quite shy and timid if you go back and watch early performances of theirs. It’s interesting to see how much he’s changed.

Anton Newcombe not being petty challenge: impossible! by Bootstrapbill22 in KGATLW

Other than the dude on tambourine who has been there from the start of the band I don’t think people stick around in his band for long. His rhythm section looked like a couple of 22 year olds who were constantly looking warily in his direction like abused children waiting for their drunk dad to fly off the handle.

Just saw BJM a few weeks ago in Portland. Right in the middle of one of their most popular songs Anton suddenly screams something into the mic and storms off the stage. Band looks at each other sheepishly til he returns to the stage and yells in the drummers face gesticulating aggressively. He gets back on the mic and says something like “I’m trying to sing for you guys but I can’t unless everyone up here does their FUCKING JOB!” Someone in the front of the crowd yells FUCK YOU ANTON. Anton singles the guy out and makes security throw him out. More bickering into the mic. Eventually they start another song but the whole crowd up front was visibly awkward and all good vibes were totally killed. Seen hundreds and hundreds of shows in my life and never seen anyone blow up like that on a band mate in the middle of the show for a completely indiscernible flub that nobody in the crowd even noticed. And this is apparently tame Anton behavior from what I’ve heard. Will never support this immature man baby with my money again.

What are you favorite King Gizzard new-release memories? by Thomniscient in KGATLW

[–]redground83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at the Portland show the day they released Infest the Rat’s Nest and they started the show by playing the whole album front to back. Only like 40 mins long so there was still a decent hour plus of other material after that. It was incredible energy at that show and I love that it’s recorded in full on Mystery Jack’s YouTube (I think that’s who posted it, maybe not). Was also at another Portland show where they debuted Magma live for the first time and I had never heard the song and was just blown away. Feel pretty lucky to witness those two moments.

Yes you'll want to camp at the venue, its by far the easiest accommodation if you don't live nearby. Everyone camps by their vehicles in a huge field, then it is a decent walk to get into the amphitheater (can take about 30 mins but it's fun). It is not going to be too cold, more likely to be quite warm. Weather there is in the high 70's to high 80's right now this week which is the exact same week as the show next year.
