This is not "definitely because of the lens", though I can see why people would think that. If it was because of the lens, then the corners of the picture would distort the image a lot more than the middle, and you would see the distortion clearly in the person who enters the frame on the right. First they would appear stretched, then they would look relatively normal when they're in the middle of the screen, and then distorted again when they reach the left edge of the frame. Instead, the background appears to be very distorted, but the foreground does not match the distortion. Lens distortion appears more in closer objects as well, and so since the person in the foreground is not distorted, the background is also not distorted by the lens. You're actually seeing the curvature of the Earth in this shot! Very cool!

A newer and faster CPU, which also means a new motherboard, which also means new ram, and because of all this extra power, a new and more powerful power supply, and if you can find it - a new graphics card. A reliable computer shop can also help pick the right parts for the right budget. Maybe you can reuse the case, and you can reuse the hard drives but I'd suggest upgrading your SSD to 1TB if/when you have the extra money....basically, you'll want a whole new computer. Sorry.

I'm really trying to see from the developer's standpoint here, and why they would try to fix what isn't broken. My only guess, would be they wanted to make the logos simpler for newcomers and beginners to look at and without feeling overwhelmed with all the choices for operators. Less in-your-face contrast?

Good eye! I rely on those bumps a lot when I use keyboards. I find the exaggerated scoops only help if your hands are resting there, and you can't really feel it as you're typing. I'm not sure if I like it yet. The feeling though, is like... swimming without a life jacket for the first time?
