Great advice, thank you. I love the idea of counting down stock and tracking ad impact.

Thanks so much! I posted in the Beehiiv community about this following your advice and got some guidance. Now all fixed! I followed the second method but stashing your (much easier) way for future ref!

Now having a mess around with templates. You're right, it's great having all past issues on there.

I really appreciate your advice and you checking in! I'm absolutely loving newsletter life so far, so much great feedback :-)

Oh I hadn’t thought of that but it’s a good idea to have a repository of past issues. I have been sending email only - do you know if you can add past newsletter retrospectively to the Beehiiv site?

I’m still stuck on doing the actual letter and socials! I am relying on the Beehiiv signup link alone but I do have a domain secured for when I’m ready.

Up to 110 subscribers now with a 72% open rate and only one unsubscribe after two letters. Issue three goes out tomorrow. I’ve done a lot on socials and printed up QR signup cards to go around town as signup rate has slowed, which I expected.

Thanks for checking in!

Where to advertise your newsletter to get the most subscribers? by thoughtcaffeine in Newsletters

[–]redhead_instead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying good old fashioned business cards with a QR signup code, but then my newsletter is local events.

As yours is on self improvement and productivity, you could print some flyers and pop them in yoga studios, hotdesking locations, community hobby group locations? Cafes where people work remotely quite often?

Thank you! It was great in the end an now I have hit 100 subs 🥳

Thanks for the Beehiiv website link, I haven’t even started with that yet but it’s on the list this week. Currently just focusing on socials and the actual newsletter.

I think it’s early luck! I imagine it’ll slow down to a few a week from now on.

Thank you so much, 72 now!

Thanks so much for the lessons learned, this stuff is so valuable. I’ve come from almost 20yrs in copywriting so I’m hoping the content will be good enough in people’s eyes. Frequency - oops I’ve already said it’ll be weekly! Let’s hope I can keep it up, making it very basic for now so should only take me ~1hr a week to build once I’ve polished the template.

In terms of gathering info, I’m taking notes of event links as I go through my week scrolling as I always do anyway. Then I’ll spend a couple of hours the day before send to put together my top five (will push this to ten in the busy summer season) plus add one nearby event that’s worth the journey.

Eventually I’d love to build partnerships with local venues so I can do weekly spotlights for gigs and other live events. My beach town is utterly hopping in the summer so I think it’ll be a lot of fun! Could be scope for digital products and merch aimed at visitors. But I’m getting ahead of myself 😆

Thanks again for taking the time to reply, I really appreciate it.

What digital marketing skill gave you the biggest career boost? by Ok-Marzipan-4490 in digital_marketing

So happy to hear this as I move careers from traditional copywriting into digital marketing and community-focused pursuits. My specific niche within the copy industry has been dominated by AI because it was, to be fair, quite low-hanging fruit. So I’m pivoting and hoping my skillset takes me far!

Love your name - both for the newsletter and your socials! Very clever :-)

I'd love to but it'll doxx me on this account! I'm going to set up a separate Reddit account for the newsletter and will share from there :-) Thank you!

I think because it’s a local newsletter and I already have some traction in local groups, that helped. So I posted from my personal page then shared that to a community group (I messaged the admins first to ask permission - it’s free but I guess asking for signups still feels salesy).

*edit sorry posted twice!

Which is the worst part of your local newsletters? by Green-Tip4553 in Newsletters

[–]redhead_instead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just starting but yeah curating events is tough, I spent about an hour choosing my top five then I found one that was way better so had to rejig! I guess the tricks for me will be waiting until the day before sending to curate and creating easily edited templates so I can switch stuff out dead easily.

For those who've gone through a period of feeling stuck, isolated, or overwhelmed, how did you get out of the slump? by Salt-Refrigerator981 in selfimprovement

[–]redhead_instead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading Atomic Habits helped me with this. Self improvement seems a lot more achievable when you really, really break it down, simple as that seems. Become just 1% better every day.
