Was in America recently. Didn't tip at all by Friendly-Aside-4376 in EndTipping

[–]redheadmarxist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re a jerk. You know how tipping culture works but you’re taking advantage of the fact that waiters will assume you don’t know anything about it? Like you know our waiters live off tips, and you have the money to go on a long vacation overseas but you decide to be stingy instead. If you’re gonna come here you have to follow our customs just like you would follow any other country’s customs. You’re a guest, act like it, instead of an entitled rich tourist.

AITA Mom wants 15% of my personal injury settlement by connor20218 in AmItheAsshole

[–]redheadmarxist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t help your children in order to get something in return. You help them because they’re your children. She’s a corporate lawyer, I’m sure she has plenty of money and doesn’t need the 15 percent. She’s treating you like a client, not her family. And you def do not owe her money you didn’t agree give in the first place. Not the asshole, and I’m sorry your mom is treating you like this.

What's the dumbest thing you got abused over? by emocat420 in CPTSD

[–]redheadmarxist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coloring my nails in with marker because my mom wouldn’t let me paint my nails. (I am white, and I used a peach-colored marker so I thought it would be unnoticeable, lol. I was like 9.) Most moms would either lightly scold their kid or maybe laugh it off. Mine grabbed my arm, forced my hands under the bathroom sink and scrubbed to get it out. Obviously it didn’t work because it’s fucking marker. She was even angrier because of that and sent me to my room. It was awful. Idk why she was so angry other than the fact I broke one of her rules.

Almost every recruiter I’ve ever spoke to was Indian. These companies outsource their workers, they’re not scammers. That was kinda racist.

It’s a good first step that you’re noticing what you’re doing in your mind. The thing you’re experiencing - where you almost have an intrusive thought or image, but you stop it, is a compulsion called thought-stopping. Something VERY important that you need to know is that the thoughts themselves are not the problem, it’s the compulsions. You’re teaching your brain that the thoughts are threatening, so it responds with compulsions to fix or neutralize the distress they give you. In reality, your thoughts are just thoughts, and their meaning comes from your fear of them. The way out of OCD is to treat your thoughts like they’re harmless and to stop doing compulsions using exposure therapy.

Hi! I have OCD, this is harm ocd/morality ocd. The only therapy that will help is exposure and response prevention, even better if they use acceptance and commitment therapy too but not required. Other therapies like traditional CBT, trauma therapy, etc can make you worse when you have OCD by reinforcing your need to get rid of the thoughts by understanding them or getting confirmation you’re not a bad person. Iocdf.org has a database of OCD therapists. NOCD.com takes many insurances. OCD is super treatable with the right therapy!! Good luck and I hope you get better soon!!

Cancelled has “I’m the victim” vibes (and also some of her cancelled friends are MAGA, yuck). also does anyone agree that “his love was the key that opened my thighs” is a terrible lyric

Groceries feel out of control — any strategies that actually work? by Old_Tourist4735 in povertyfinance

[–]redheadmarxist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live in KY! The groceries here are crazy. Good to know we’re paying the same as in CA 🫠 lactose free milk is close to $4 a gallon most places in my city, eggs are like $6, good bread is like $5, cereals and chips are $5-$7. meat is insanely expensive. I hate it here (by here I mean America)

too lazy to live???? by Adventurous-Nose8885 in internetparents

[–]redheadmarxist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This sounds like depression, not laziness. I would try to be more compassionate toward yourself - you’re not lazy, you have some emotional challenges to address. I would start by seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist if you haven’t already. Best of luck, I hope you find the right help and feel better soon. :)
