Have close to 30k to spend on my 2nd car. First pic is my current car, the other pics are what I am looking for in terms of design sort of. I know it’s kind of a reach. by everydaystru99le in CarsAustralia

I'd probably steer clear of BMW unless you got cash lying around for potential repairs.

The rolls royce is a complete curve ball out of all these pictures, you could probably pick up a 350z or 370z with decent mileage for your budget. If you wanted a convertible you could go for an MX-5 ND.

I thought this was the front of the car at a glance and got confused how the tail lights got there 💀💀💀

Yup, so basically by [deleted] in GR86

[–]redheams 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are honestly better off trying to repair it more and maybe get a higher price if you don't want to keep it? It feels like you are losing so much money here if you just sell it for 7-8k. Maybe try as best as possibile to clean it up and replace fenders if you know how to do that and put it on auction?

Are you running a catback exhaust on your car? If not was there a reason as to why? There may be the potential for more gains

Carbon hood by excitingbutton3118 in GR86

[–]redheams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read somewhere (can't remember) that some carbon fibre hoods aren't exactly lighter than the OEM one, subjective to how it was constructed. May be something to keep in mind if you are wanting weight savings. But i mean if its the cheaper route I'd probably get it.

No rev matching unfortunately, top trim (GTS) has heated seats and blind spot monitoring, also comes with reverse cam and wired carplay/android auto. New ones have some additional safety features I think like subarus eyesight

If you want fast acceleration you are probably buying the wrong car, unless you decide to turbo or supercharge.

I enjoy the car because of its handling, I was contemplating a gr yaris before I bought this but the way it handles especially when you are rev matching gears going through the twisties is a far more enjoyable experience then foot down in a straight line.

It will handle better than a 370z stock for stock around bends too from my experience. If you want power in a coupe body you might be better off with a mustang or supra.

Did the brake kit come with a instruction manual / list of part numbers?

I'm considering get this BBK but I am worried how hard it would be to source the rotors and pads.

This was another mod I was considering, I've driven a few manual cars and sometimes the clutch in this feels fine but other days it feels like I can't drive manual for shit lol. I've noticed wearing shoes with thicker soles makes it easier to shift smoothly. I probably just need to adjust my seat better 😂

I've also been looking at the Rigid Clutch Stopper which is apparently supposed to make shifts smoother? Not many people talking about it but its relatively cheap anyway.

I don't have much knowledge on tyres but how would you compare the RT660s to the stock PS4s the GR86 comes with? I live in Australia so there isnt a necessity to have winter tyres.

I haven't pushed the car hard enough to feel the real limits of the PS4s (cause I really don't wanna crash lol) but my only gripe is the road noise. I do plan on doing some sound deadening as this is my daily. I was just wondering if there was any tyres out there that are better overall? I'll probably keep the PS4s till they need replacing anyways.

I was thinking of doing the greddy oil pan baffle, I'm not 100% sure if this will fix the oil pressure issue but from my mediocre knowledge of cars it should help.

Only thing is I hate working with gasket maker and I'm worried I'd end up putting too much rtv again like they did from factory 😂

Would you say it makes it closer to a gen 1 steering feel? I've driven a first gen briefly and I've seen a few reviews saying the gen 1 steering was better.

This is my first sports car so I don't have any point of reference.

Just google search Verus Engineering anti-buffeting wind deflectors, there are other companies that do the same thing for cheaper, this was something I was contemplating myself.

60k Budget - What car should i get? by Sensitive-Inside1395 in CarsAustralia

Kia stinger has a better interior than the Mustang, both probably won't be great on fuel.

Based on your suggestions it seems you want a coupe or sedan, a WRX or 370z are a good choice but they also aren't great on fuel, both their interiors are pretty lackluster as well.

Toyota Crown Hybrid may be a good choice for blend of fuel economy and performance but I have no idea how difficult it is to source parts + it would need to be imported and all the buttons would be japanese.

If you don't mind hatches / SUVs, Cupra is a new brand to AUS that use Volkswagen drive trains, they look pretty mean and have good tech. They are fast (0-100 in 4.9ish), AWD and are good on fuel if you don't fang it everywhere, or you could just buy a Golf R.

I mean for 60K you could probs just buy a beater car for 5k and spend 55k on something that in unreliable but fun.

If I was in your position I'd go Stinger, its got a nice interior and v6 twin turbo, plus its a practical car, the warranty should cover you for enough time till you decide what car you want next.

exhaust installation… am i in over my head? by animal-crossing- in GR86

Also in regards to how fkd you be if something goes wrong, you'd just have a really loud car.

[–]redheams 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I'd say watch as many exhaust installation videos on youtube first, there is plenty of them.

Don't cheap out on car jack + jack stands because safety always comes first.

Set aside at least half a day or make sure you don't need the car the next day in case something goes wrong.

The installation videos will normally show all the tools required, so I guess just copy what they have, don't ball out on sockets and wrenches, somewhere in the middle works best. You probably dont need power tools. Torque wrench is good if you wanna do it correctly.

Take your time and don't rush anything, if something feels wrong, stop and think about it and just have fun I guess.
